This evening I was due to start a another part time job at my local shop, as extra income is needed.
Last night at 10.20pm, I received a text from the shop owner, saying 'I'm very sorry to let you know that you will not be needed, as the person who was leaving, has decided to stay'. !!!!
I'd done some training, also informed her of my OA & how it effects me, & she was willing to take me on & work round what I can & can't do.
After reading the text last night, I think my OA may have scared her off. That's my way of thinking anyway.
Yes it's sad for Ruthytootie2 as extra money is needed...But it is bad for the company to dismiss or, let's face it, lie about why Ruthy was dismissed by a late night text. Time for Ruthy to talk to a disability advocate....and maybe inform the community on what company to boycott.
Something just doesn't smell right...in fact it just stinks of being against the human right disability laws of my country....and I am sure it's against the disability laws of your country, if you live in a 1st world country.
Please talk to your disability advocate in your area. You have rights. I'm utterly disgusted at the way you were texted at 10:20pm at night.... The words that come to mind are Loser, illegal, & coward shop owners. If this company has a head office, well they need to be informed of the disability laws of your country.
Even if you don't want the job now, go to an advocate and scream from the roof top who this company is, name their name. It's their shame, not yours. Why not inform disabled people, and healthy descent people to boycott this shop.
Thing is, nothing had been signed. I'd only done a trial session to see how i'd get on. This evening would of been the official start.
But I've decided if they were to get intouch, I will just decline their offer. I'm not on this planet to be messed about. The company in question I shall glady avoid from now on, no longer buy my milk from them either. 😉
ALso tell all your friends and put it on your facebook account as well it will be far better than taking legal advice because if people boycott the shop concerned it will hit them where it hurts in their pocket.xxx
Maybe the person did decide to stay. If you had completed some training the manager would be more than aware of your capabilities and you said the manager was prepared to work around your limitations. I don't think everything can be blamed on our health. Again maybe the person did change their mind or after the training they decided you weren't suitable. It wouldn't be the first time that's happened to perfectly healthy people. We all know how fast circumstances change.
The person has left, I see them every day. Spoke to her this morning, she's moving away. The shop are still advertising.
The shop owner was more interested in my 30yrs + of retail experience I have, & was very keen for me to start ASAP. Also told her about my day time job, working with primary school children with special needs & how challenging it is.
I know this may sound irrelevant, but why express their keenness, only to change their mind at the last moment.
