I bought three tins of sweets. One I gave to the guys in the charity shop. So far so good. The second I opened and ate about a quarter, then put the rest loose in a parcel to my daughter. The third was for the dustbin men. Then I got a text saying I needed to self isolate for 7 days! I live alone. I opened it. They should last till Christmas Day but no promises. Couldn’t get a delivery slot so instead of turkey it will be paella with extra prawns and chorizo. Better than a slap with a wet fish. Which brings me to this: I rescued a fish (not mine) from next doors cat. I’ve kept it in my pond. Happy Xmas neighbour... blushes.

Thank you ,for making me laugh, and ,on behalf of the poor/now very lucky fish!!I've done exactly the same myself, with the sweeties that is, yet to rescue a fish from the cat but have prevented him from gobbling up ducklings , birdies and squirrels!

I’ve picked a few up that way.
I cancelled one at the weekend as my daughter was able to shop for me ( she can’t always do it)
If this happens I cancel the slot so that some one whose need is greater.

🥺keep trying the booking slots a lot are adding extra time slots due to tier updating. You could contact your local council they maybe able to help. Great sense of humour but it broke my heart to read your post xx
I'm very sorry Lollybygolly, I started to reply earlier, got called away and hadn't realised I'd pushed the reply button on my unfinished reply. I hope you don't think I was being insensitive. It is horrible that you have to self isolate and are living alone. Your great sense of humour in such trying times is so admirable, a credit to you,and will see you far.

Firstly Lolly, to deal with the confessions, thank you for the giggles, but I think your behaviour sounds totally reasonable to me. To give the chocolates to the bin men after discovering you had to isolate would have been potentially irresponsible and definitely not COVID secure. As for the fish, well you were simply saving its life and therefore again completely above board and no forgiveness required 😉As for the more serious matter of having to isolate over Christmas, I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m not sure what your shopping preference is but I know around where I live Iceland have still got home delivery slots available for Wed and Thurs this week, might be worth a try?

You did make me laugh!!! Thank you for the fun! I didn’t even think about eating the fish...goldfish aren’t tasty at all apparently! (carp) and I’ve lots of salmon and breaded fish in my freezer anyway. I’ll try Iceland but I’m honestly so packed out with food, soups bread meat in my freezer plus lots of veg. I was due at the lipid clinic tomorrow (cancelled) so a reprieve till the 29th. Love to all! Xx

I’m a big fan of paella - lots of lemon juice pepper smoked paprika etc...add in chorizo and king prawns... it’s great cold too - perfect. I’ll buy a remaindered turkey after Xmas if there are any left on Boxing Day.
