Methotrexate Pen
Hi there if it didn't release any liquid I would administer another one .Just keep the dodgy one for your doc to see.Have you been on it long or is this your first ?
I would call your pharmacist right away and ask them what to do. Likely they will tell you to re do the injection with another.
It’s been a long time since I took methotrexate. I wasn’t aware it was available in an auto pen. My only options were pills or syringe.
If nothing came out yes I would administer another, just let them know.
This happened to me when I was learning to use being needle phobic. I pressed nothing released , the nurse knew nothing was released from the sound. I just didn't press hard enough, although thought I did, there's a certain click, so the nurse clicked with me.
Hope this makes sense.
This has happened to me. If no MTX was injected then use another one. Take the faulty one back in its box to whoever fills your scripts, they should take it off you, send it back to the pharmaceutical supplier who'll replace it for you.
I would use another one, if you decide against it then missing one week will do no harm. Hang onto the duff pen as the NHS claim back for these.
Hi there
As others have said, please seek medical advice before taking your next steps; either your pharmacist or rheumatology.
Best wishes
Kim
This happened to me, with 2 pens in a bunch of 8 some time ago. And the fluid inside them had gone hard. I took them all back to the hospital pharmacy and they were replaced, but the pharmacist had to fill in lengthy details on a form to claim back from the supplier. I had a flare up at the time and was suspicious that the whole batch Had been dodgy, (I was at the end of the batch) but who knows?
