Power Cut And Embrel

At this precise moment I’m sitting in a power cut. It started around 1am. Due to sleep apnea I can’t sleep. The Embrel is in the fridge door closed, and not going to be opened. How long can it be kept without fridgeration if this continues? Any advice as to what to do would be gratefully received!!

This is the advice from the manufacturers.

But basically check the temperature of the fridge once the power comes back on, if it is much above 8 degrees then you have to take the injections out of the fridge and use them within 14 days...

HOwever if you don't open the fridge door then there's probably at least 12 hours before you need to worry.

I’m on enbrel and I’ve thought it could be out the fridge for four weeks. I’ve just checked the info on the instructions leaflet that comes in the box and it does say that it’s alright for four weeks as long as it’s stored between 8 and 25 degrees. Very conflicting info here, I’ve read your link and that does say 14 days.

Thanks. I think I should be ok. The fridge temp was 12 when the electricity came back on so didn’t get even close to room temp. Have left message with my rhumey nurse for advice

If it’s gone over 8 degrees it can’t go back in the fridge.

The freezer will keep things for 48 hours if kept closed, but the fridge will only stay cold for 4 hours without power. Being in Florida where storms take our power out fairly often, I keep a small cooler and ice in the freezer just for my Enbrel.
