2nd week triple therapy.

So I might have spoken a bit too soon because last night I took my 2nd dose of methotrexate, slept okay but very sweaty, and this morning woke up feeling very nauseous, huge headache and very tired.

Probably not helping is my concrete floor being drilled up!!!

Aw Jules that sucks, sorry. There are people on here who don't get side effects, sadly I'm not one of them. They can jiggy mtx doses, put other dmards in, increase folic etc etc so if it carries on, don't suffer in silence, ring them. Obvs this is not medical advice but yr quality of life matters too, shit enough having this without side effects. Hope you get some relief soon

Did you drink enough water yesterday? Does help.... however hopefully it's just the getting to know you stage and side effects will pass off in a couple of weeks.

Hmmm. About 1.5 litres. Not enough.

Ahhrgh just what you needed. That would give me a headache. Maybe go out and rest at a friend's. Drink water . X

I think the drilling and exhaustion and stress is likely to be causing a lot of the head pain, Jules. As you said before it hasn't been an ideal time to start MTX with the move etc but you had to start it now to feel better ASAP. I hope the nausea passes off and it settles down if this is a side effect. I'd persevere unless it gets really awful then get in touch with your nurse. I'm not sure if you are allowed to take any indigestion remedies after MTX. I can't remember, but would peppermint tea help? Maybe a couple of mugs of that after you've taken the MTX. X

Yes it is good to drink more water while taking mtx. Even if you don't feet thirsty.

You must feel very dry Jules, with all the dust the workmen are raising. x

Are you taking folic acid! That helps with side effects. See a rheumatologist to help monitor your RA

I speak to my rheumy every week. Yes I take folic acid. It’s only my second week of methotrexate so it’s now triple therapy. Hydroxychloroquine and sulphasalazine for 3 months already.

I find the injections not as harsh as the tablets with less side effects
