Hi everyone,
I've just been given my operation date (12th September) and have suddenly felt very apprehensive. Has anyone got any experiences to share? - good preferably.

The only person I know of who had triple ankle fusion was Jake the pake, who is a friend of Rolf Harris.
I wish you all the best for your op and I hope it stops the horrible pains

Oh Phillip!.....now I can't stop singing that song! It's going to haunt me I know it is. Wasn't he Jake the Peg though?
Hi Creaky
Just wondered if you have read the article on foot and ankle surgery on the NRAS website, there is a paragraph on this surgery nras.org.uk/about_rheumatoi... . There is also a personal account from one of our members about ankle surgery which might be of interest.
If you would like to talk to someone then why not give the helpline a call on 0800 298 7650 and we can look for someone who has had ankle surgery, possibly a triple arthrodesis, for you to talk to.
Best wishes
Lorraine
Thank you Lorraine. I've checked it out and have found it very useful.

Hi Creaky
Well all I can say is that if you have RA a fusion is a better choice than a replacement and does work very well. (you can still drive for example). I had two very successful replacement ankles (on the same one) but each lasted just 5/6 years - so had to then have a fusion, with no ankle left to fuse. (I won't bore you with that!) But all the (many) folk I know who have had fusions have been very pleased with them; some having to wear rocker shoes afterwards, but some coping without any special footwear.Good luck with this, when you have it done. Let us know how you get on. Love Kath xx
Thank you Kath - that is very reassuring to hear (despite your name lol). I looked at your profile and caught up with your ankle story - you've certainly been through it haven't you.
Take care
Judy
