So..i started cimzia and have had my 1st loading dose. I have a noticeable decrease in inflammation already! The only side effect so far is the fatigue they talk about. Mine seemed to last only a couple of days. Now I'm about to start tapering prednisone (7.5 mg) since the cimzia is taking care if the inflammation. I'm concerned tho because in the spring I was diagnosed with secondary adrenal insufficiency from prednisone. Has anyone been in this situation of cimzia AS and tapering prednisone? Pls comment any info that could help. I'm concerned about the taper. Thank you ..my rheumatologist would like me to get down to 3-5 mg of prednisone
Tapering prednisone while starting cimzia ..concerned... - NRAS
Tapering prednisone while starting cimzia ..concerned about adrenal glands
My endocrinologist wouldn't let me below 5mg without adrenal.test. mine was fine thankfully! Good luck x
That's great news Allanah! Hopefully I can get at least to 5mg. I see my endocrinologist in a couple of days and will see his thoughts in It too.
Tapering down my steroids really helped. I got my rheumy to "talk " by letters t and agree my steroid dose as Rheumy wanted over 5 and end wanted below 5 . !!
Ended up on maintenance of 3mg .
I think I'm headed in the same direction with both of mine..i suggested the rheumy send a copy of his report and plan to the endo ..will see if he did soon. It's so frustrating having the 2 not agree and then have to wait 3 months between appts to get it sorted out
They are at odds. Diabetic endocrinogy are like ...get insulin down, get blood sugars down, get adrenal working; Rheumy WANTS to potecf joints and stop disability!!! What's worse your endocrine or Rheumy problems. Mine was endocrine so I said to Rheumy I NEED to lower steroids....but you can rescue me if I get stuck lol !! So far so Good!
Just a follow up about cimzia. Did not work for me...after the 1 st loading dose the nurse told me to go to the clinic and be seen by a Dr. Turns out I developed hypertension and a new infection that I'm on 2nd round of antibiotics for. The fatigue was debilitating lasting 5 days for me. I am also considering switching to a different rheumatologist
