Is it ok to have the shingles vaccination - I am on Enbrel and Methotrexate>

But as James53 has already said, please check with your rheumatology team as they will have your medical history and be best informed about which drugs it is safe to have the vaccination with.

I have been told it is NOT ok to have the shingles injection. It is a live vaccine. No live vaccines are allowed with Enbrel. You can have the flu injection because it is not live.

No shingles jab allowed. It is a live vaccination. You can have flu jab. That is not live. I am on Enbrel and methotrexate. Told by doctor cannot have shingles jab. Good luck to you. Enbrel is amazing.

Shingle vaccine is a live vacation anyone who is on immunosuppressant drugs should not receive a live vacations

I was on Enbrel for several years and was always told I couldn't have any 'live' vaccines.

I would always suggest double checking with the specialist nurse before any vaccinations but as I say, no 'live' vaccines. Hope that's some help

Because I am on mtx,was told by pharmacist, if I had the shingles vaccine I would get shingles. I take the amino acid l lysine to keep the shingles dormant or in check instead. Keep your consumption of l argentine low though, as that amino acid helps activate the herpes virus .
