Humira or Enbrel which?

i had been on Enbrel for ten years and during that time I had iritis really bad to the point of having a catarac removed & I still have inflamation in my left eye. However my arthritis was very good hardly any pain. My new RA doctor started me on Humira and now i HURT like i did before i was diagnosed with RA. She said that Humira is better with inflammation in the eyes than Enbrel. Is that correct?

It's irrelevant whether it's better fo iritis or not if it isn't working for your RD! Complain again that your condition is not being managed well enough!

No idea whether it is better with inflammation in the eyes but I tried Humira prior to Enbrel and it had absolutely no effect on my RA. I started feeling better fairly quickly on Enbrel.

Suspect it's yet again a case of fitting the individual to the most suitable drug. Someone may well have good results on Humira where inflammation of the eye is concerned but I would expect that to be the case for all other areas of inflammation in his/her body.

Logically, I can't really see how a drug unless specifically targeted on the eyes would have more effect on the inflammation there and not address it elsewhere, but then I'm not a rheumatologist and maybe this is a question for yours.

Though it doesn't suit or work for everybody I believe Enbrel is thought to be the more robust of the two drugs.

As oldtimer says if it's not working for your RD/RA your condition isn't being managed well enough so tell it as it is. Hope the inflammation settles down soon.

I've had two Cateract ops I just put the Cateracts down to RA they started before I was prescribed Humira. I hope the Humira works for you if not ask to go back on Embrel.
