Hi all havn't been on here for a while but I would love to know how others have coped with pinched nerves from buttock all the way down leg to toes doc says I probably will have to have a bone shaved but I am in so much pain any comments for help with it while waiting for hosp appointment would really really be appreciated. Anny

I have degenerative scoliosis which means my vertebrae are trapping my sciatic nerve - sounds the same. About 4 years ago I had what they call decompression surgery which as you say is when they shave off bone to increase the space for the nerves. The effects lasted a couple of years. Since then I have had nerve block injections done under anaesthetic. They agreed I could have these every 4 months. They have proved very effective. It might be worth asking if you could have these while they decide on surgery. I certainly can sympathise with you and do hope you get relief one way or the other very soon.

Thanks for your reply Thelma I will definitely ask for the nerve block injections if they are still offered as it sounds like they might give some relief from this horrible pain it does sound very similar to what you have gone through well I hope your outcome has been good

Sciatica nerve pain can be bad. I have it on both sides of my body. Like you I feel it in my buttocks all the way down my leg and in my feet too. If I make a wrong turn it'll make it worse. There are time it'll take me to my knees just about. I don't know exactly what started my sciatica nerve pain, my doctors haven't really told me . But I'm guessing mine is from my arthritis that I have. Mine seems to be getting worse too.
