Just wondering if anybody here with RA has a positive ANA.
I have positive ANA, highest 360 homogenous. That automatically gave me a Lupus diagnosis on top of my already seropositive RA ( CCP 92). I'm wondering if my positive ANA cash just be the wicked RA.
Thanks😊

A positive ANA test indicates that your body is producing proteins that reacts to components of your cells and further investigation needs to be done.
They will do a dsDNA test as generally almost all of those with Lupus have a positive ANA but ANA of itself is not a Lupus test because those with RA can also have a positive test as well as scleroderma, etc.
So yes, you can have a positive ANA and 'only' have RA but since you tested positive for dsDNA your doctor gave you both diagnosis. Remember all auto immune diseases should first and foremost be diagnosed with clinical manifestations. The lab work just helps the doctor confirm a diagnosis.
Hi. I have positive ANA and dsDNA but I've not been given lupus diagnosis bcos all of my symptoms are explained by my RA. He did suggest that this may change over time
I started with a mildly positive ANA and negative RF. initially it was thought I had the start of SLE.
I started on Hydroxychloroquine and within 4 years I was ANA negative, but my RF was becoming increasingly positive.
10 years on and after a palindromic RA diagnosis I now have full blown RA. They haven't tested my ANA or CCP for many years now. My symptoms don't necessarily fit RA, I have less joint problems and more tendon and ligament inflammation, but Methotrexate is helping.
