Day out at seaside

Had a grand day out last Sunday. Went from my home town of wellingborough to London then on Thames link to Brighton. Booked in advance and booked a ramp to get on an off train in my wheelchair. The disabled space was in first class. So my carer and myself got upgraded for free. Free tea and cake. Went up the new ba 360 tower again everyone was helpful. In the cafe eating fish and chips I was treated like royalty.

Another plus side went to primary's near my town. New store opened and they have a disabled checkout so you get to jump the queue. Hope you all have a great bank holiday too no sure what I'm doing might just sit in garden and watch the birds.

Sounds like you had a great day out Beeper

And doesn't it make a huge difference when all the travel arrangements are arranged in advance and work according to plan? Its such a comfort and takes all the stress out of it.

Take care.

Nice to hear from you! Have you noticed increasing numbers of places have noticed saying not all disabilities are visible? It's good to hear you had such a positive experience!

It does seem that more and more organisations are recognising the needs of disabled people. I am now registered with Royal Opera House, Royal Albert Hall and our local theatre which has really good West End shows. I had to produce a copy of my DLA entitlement letter (I am so old they are not transferring me to PIP!!). I get a free ticket for my carer (or my minder as he prefers to be called).

I am sure there must be many other organisations with similar schemes - sorry to non-UK members but maybe other countries do something similar.
