Hey peeps 🙂I think I stood under Niagra Falls this afternoon on my way to the Pain Clinic - crazy weather! Some of the corridors had to be closed!
The outcome of the Pain Clinic is that he has prescribed me 100mg Gabapentin before bed- see how I'm getting on in a week and then go to gp who can increase my dose. Any suggestions of what I might expect?
It's not a drug I would go for because I have a bad reaction to all antiepileptics. You may be just fine with it. Hope it suits.
Gave me the giggles!!! Its a very small dose that they have started you on. I was on 400mg three times a day but eventually switched to pregabalin which was better for me as I didn't have to take it so often!
I started on Gabapentin last November literally to treat the restless leg syndrome pains after being put back on steroids. I was started on 100mg 3 times a day and it worked really well. Since then, I now have morphine patches topped up with Oxycodone and I take 900mg gabapentin 3 times a day with 1000mg paracetamol at the same time. I have mtx 20 mg weekly by injection.. All this without a diagnosis (14 months later). At first the gabapentin worked really well but now, even though I take 9 times the dosage I started on, I'm not sure if it works as well. The good thing is that I have no side effects from it whatsoever!! If I were you I wouldn't worry about taking it at all.. It's been very kind to me and hopefully it will be the same for you? Gabapentin didn't suit me as it made me crazy mad and flying off the handle at the slightest thing. I have a friend on it though who says its a wonder drug for her. I was switched to pregabalin which completely keeps my neuropathic pain under control.

Hi I was put on Gabapentin also for restless leg at night as I was already on Tramadol for pain with other top ups. Initially I started on 100mg at night then, morning and night. Strangely first dose, I laid down and there was a buzz in my head and my legs felt really strange. Never had that since. The twice a day dose worked quite well for about two months. I was sleeping better at least and could sit for longer without the twitching starting. Now it feels like it coming back. Not sure whether to ask about increasing the dose as this can only continue and I am already on anti seizure meds. I would go for it. Not heard of anything terrible. My she has fibro and swore by it.
