I am due to have wrist surgery on the 8th May but have been up all night with raging toothache, I think it could be an abscess. Any advice would be appreciated. Have a good day all xx

How about: go to a dentist??

Thanks !!!! We don't have an emergency dentist nearby and as I can't drive at the moment it's a bit difficult.

Sorry for being a bit terse, please forgive meπŸ™„. But it's the only thing to do if you have toothache, except pain killers. So as you say later try getting in to your dentist as an emergency. And hospitals don't really have emergency dentists, they will just refer you to your practice out of hours dentist, for which of course you have to pay!😏

You are forgiven dtech. I have been trying all sorts. Like garlic which did help, luckily I live by myself. Salt water gargling and painkillers of which I have not had much relief. I will be ringing my dentist first thing tomorrow xx

Not that it was a professional opinion or diagnosis of course about vampires. As I am not allowed to do that, am I Sue? πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Your local hospital may have a dentist atttached for emergancies only.

I tried that one and was told they don't have an emergency dental dept. They do have a dental department and I can ring them tomorrow xx

Thank you, have tried them. Will probably wait until the morning and try my dentist. It's a bit easier at the moment so I will keep taking the painkillers xx

Salt water mouth rinse several times a day may help take the edge off until you can get to the dentist (sooner rather than later as it could quickly get worse). Rubbing clove oil in will numb the pain a bit but don't be fooled into thinking it must be improving as it's not hurting so much.

All the best

Hi hoping you may be sorted by now. Part of my tooth fell off on Easter SUNDAY. I rang 111 got a call back and within an hour we seeing a dentist for emergency filling all for 20.30 pounds. Seems that emphasising that pain killers didn't help worked . Fingers crossed

Thanks everyone, I am just waiting for the dentist to open and will be calling them. What bothers me most is that my op will be postponed but i will see what happens today xx Mary

If it is an abscess you'll need antibiotics first from your GP, as the dentist can't do anything until the infection has gone - at least that's the protocol in UK, unless you have a dentist who will prescribe them. Either way, I hope it gets sorted ASAP!!
