Red palms of hands??

As a sort of PS to my howl of anguish earlier, does anyone else get the palms of your hands turning bright red? Is this an RA thing too?? Help!

Hi---- the palms of my hands were permanently red for 4.5 years prior to diagnosis, they go red now when I am flaring. 😊

Hi scotslass

The palms of my hands have been bright red for as long as I can remember! I also remember my health visitor, after having my second daughter, telling me that this only happens through pregnancy and in cases of liver problems - don't know how accurate this is.

Yes, I know it can happen with liver problems but seems it can happen to us as well - see reply from oldtimer. Oh well, at least I'm not alone!

Palmar erythema - the posh name for red palms! Yes I've got it too! And permanently hot too.

So, it's just part of the RA then? It's the one thing I never remember to mention to Rheumy nurse /consultant! Thanks for telling me I'm not the only one!

That's interesting. Do you know what the cause of this is? Like I say, Ive had this forever - long before diagnosis.

No don't know the cause, prob just another weird thing that this disease is responsible for! Am not going to worry about it now I know other people have it too.

I have constant red burning palms and also on the soles of my feet I have had ra for 14 years I have mentioned to all medicalpersonell I have been told " one of those things " the burning keeps me awake sometimes and it can be painful. Sorry can't help really only to say it seems to be prevalent with auto ammune
