Rash on palms of hands

Hi everyone, has anyone ever had a rash on the palms of hands? I have one which has been coming and going for years and I never associated it with RA....asked a GP about it years ago, he dismissed it as nothing to worry about. But I see from the internet that it can be caused by autoimmune disease. Or liver disease which is even more worrying. Grateful for any feedback.

Yes, I often get a red rash on my hands....and do feel it erupts when my RD is bad. I have mentioned it in passing to my doctors, but nobody seems particularly interested. My palms often swell as well.

I would like to see where you found this info, I would be very interested in following it up.......information is strength!

Hi Hatshepsut, thanks for your reply, that's interesting. The medical name for it is palmar erythema, if you Google "palmar erythema and rheumatoid arthritis", that'll take you to the same page I saw. They also say that 60% of people who have RA get this redness/rash on their palms.

All part and parcel of the great RA saga!!

I get something like this on my feet and sometimes my hands. I also think its connected as it get worse with RA symptoms

What meds are you taking?

I had a severe reaction to Humira. I ended up with hundreds of painful doughnut shaped blisters rash all over my hands. All went away after I stoped taking the med.

Hi, not on any RA meds at the moment. I do think it's more likely to be linked to the illness itself.
