Hi judes111, wow, wonderful. I too have been thinking of running, now that my markers have reduced. Could you tell how you started training? Would mean a lot if you could write a post about your training and diet schedule. Thanks .

Hi there

I started running in 2008 at the local running room in the " learn to run clinic"

Since then I have run 5 full marathons , yes 42.2 km or 26 miles ! ( sorry brag brag ) it's my greatest pride and accomplishment !and 26 half marathons , 21.km or 13 miles.

I run 3 days a week and go to the gym. My diet is mostly good healthy eating but I cheat lol and enjoy treats stay away from fast food and junk mostly

I know a healthy lifestyle has helped me along with biologicals , have been on 2 , methotrexate and Celebrex.

Some days if I don't feel well I walk or rest

For many years u was in pain a lot and I am grateful I have my life back

And feel better

I have had 4 hand surgeries and endless cortisone shots. I only say this so you know it hasn't been a breeze but there's hope of healing and bring healthy

All the best

Ps I can find a started program for you if you like

Thank you very much. I can understand that the ride was rough, but you have managed to break the ceiling, as it were. 5 full marathons and 26 half marathons!!!!. You indeed are a superwoman.

I live in India, so will find something here. Thank you once again for offering to help.

Hopefully I will start training this year, and run at least 5 km , to start with.

That's fantastic - well done you, both for completing your race, and also for giving me hope that I too can get back into running st some point in the future - I've missed it so much(along with exercise in general) but I'm really looking forward to getting back to running as there's nothing like it for clearing the mind is there?! There is hope. I have had RA a long time and many bad days. I have been running for 9 years and I am certain it keeps me healthy. Some days are tough as you know but it's nice people are inspired by it

All the best

That's great news Jude, and you've definitely given me hope. I know it's still early days for me as this is the first time since diagnosis in 2014 that I've got my condition under control to some extent - that was the reason for getting my dog,to get me out of the house and back into gentle walking in the hope it'll help build up my cv levels, and also some core strength before attempting to do anything else incase I damage myself further!! But it's so good to see you achieving so much, and seeing that there is actually hope for getting my health back again - I used to be a 6/7 day a week gym bunny,so it's been depressing in itself that I've not been able to exercise as it would do my joints more damage than good at the minute - I even kept my gym membership up for a year after diagnosis in the hope I'd be ok to go back again, but unfortunately it wasn't to be. Fingers crossed in the not too distant future I can get back to some form of running,as I just love the freedom you get from it,so thanks for making my day when I saw your post this morning x

It’s been ages since I have been in the site. Like most folks , hood days and not so good days. Just had had surgery to correct ulnar drift curse of RA. Slowly recovering but hope to get back running etc soon. Keeps me sane and happy.

Happy new year friends ! Jude
