I dont have any information for you but I am EXTREMELY encouraged by your news. I am keeping my fingers crossed it is a permanent remission! You have given me hope! Thanks for sharing with us.
I'm still hoping! I know it does happen, and can last for ages or even forever. Most of the time I basically think I've reached a medically controlled remission, where I'm ok as long as I still take the drugs. But every time I start to dream of ditching them something happens, and so it all kicks off again. But what a brilliant thing for you, it must be such a relief! Polly
Yes I did when I was much younger - in my late teens. I came off all my meds for 2 years. It did come back but that doesn't mean it will for you. I have heard stories of people who have simply "grown out" of it and I suppose there's always the possiblity that the new drugs, if they catch it early enough, may knock it dead so to speak.
Make sure you keep in touch with your rheumy and at the first hint that something may be stirring again, get in touch with them. And fingers crossed for you

Hello,
I'm so pleased for you
I'm in 'medically induced remission however I met a girl a few months back who after being diagnosed with RA went into remission without the use of medications and has been for several months, everything she described was typical RA and all her tests confirmed this. She has the odd 'puffy' day in her hands but thats all!
Hi there,
glad to hear that things are going so well for you and it is so encouraging to hear that this can happen.
Your story is almost identical to that of my brother in law's friend (who I've heard about but not met.) Apparently he too was on MTX for some years, improved greatly, stopped the MTX a year ago or so & is in good shape although he is careful not to overdo things.
I'm almost wondering if you are that man! His RA affected his feet badly and, I think, his hands.
Huge apologies if you are in fact a woman! Your gender's not 100% obvious from the blog. May your good fortune continue, Christina
I stopped my mtx after 7months of uncontrolled pain, that was in Feb/March this year, since then i have had 2 steroid injections and have suffered depression and pain and weakness constantly. I see my Rheumy nurse today and am going to ask to go back on mtx, even though I didn't have much improvement but I will have other meds added, I only wish that having stopped MTX that my pains would have gone too but that was not to be so. I am less stressed now as I have had to stopped working. Glad it worked for you though I guess you stopped your MTX because you were pain free on meds?
I was about 12 years without medication and without problems except the usual aches and pains that everybody gets in their fifties.
Unfortunately the burn out did not last and the last six years have been like when I first started except with complications of the RA attacking other parts of my body.
Thank you very much for all your reply's Still enjoiying live to the full. Even to the point that I morris danced again. Had to stop because you know why,saw my rhuem specialist don't have to see him for 9 mnt. Most of you said it will come back. I know that but at the monent I feel great. Thanks for reading and all the best from me xx
