No, none of these tests are 100% accurate. The doctors look at the tests, your symptoms, how you say you feel and what they feel when they examine you to make a diagnosis. Any one thing alone is not really enough to say one way or another.
It is confusing . . my blood test came back with a very high RA result ... I only get swelling in my neck and pain comes and goes .. but all my joints hurt . I dont want to take the drugs my doctors offer until I know what I have .. so I know how you feel . hope you get sorted xx
But on the other side, if you do have RA, the sooner you start on the anti rheumatic drugs the better. I'm RA factor and anti CCP positive but understand that even this, along with swollen/painful joints is not a definitive diagnosis. Have to admit, went with my gut instinct and am taking the pills.
The Rheumatoid factor (RF) test is not 100% accurate. You can have RF and no symptoms, you can have active disease and low RF like myself. The test is a helpful diagnostic for the doctors but other things have to be taken into account in coming to a diagnosis.
Thank you
