Hi,

I've never realised that I had a support group this close to my home before reading this(Colchester) and I can't believe none of my support group have never pointed it out for me. Please can you advise if this is something I can just freely turn up for,and are family members welcome(just thinking of a lift as I'm not sure I'm fit to drive at min,the cold is definitely playing havoc with my symptoms!) also, could you please explain the usual type of things that go on at these get togethers - like I said, completely new to this, but looking forward to meeting similar people in my position.

Thanks

Nicki

Hi, I went along for the first time last session. It's all very friendly and interesting being able to talk with others in the same boat and to see differences in both disease and reactions. People do bring along partners / help - they are affected by the disease too.

I'm sure there will be someone else from the group who can fill in other details.

Thanks so much for the advice - if I'm up for it,I think I'll definitely give it a go,as it'll be nice to meet like minded people instead of friends who just disappear over time because they don't understand what I'm going through.

Hi there

The meetings are all free to attend and you are more than welcome to bring someone along with you. They are a lovely group run by Sandra, Sue, Billie and Caroline who all live with RA themselves and they will make you very welcome.

At most meetings there will be a guest speaker for the first half of the meeting on a topic relating to RA with a Q&A then there will be time for mingling, chatting with other members of the group and refreshments of course.

We can update you directly of these meetings by email if you send your details to groups@nras.org.uk, then you will get reminders sent to you.

I hope you are able to make the next meeting and enjoy it if you do.

Best wishes

Kim

That's great - many thanks for the info Kim. I just have one problem now, looks like my ongoing cold has started a flare up,as I've woken this morning with what I can only describe as bread cobs where my knees were last night!! I'll drop a seperate email to the address you linked earlier so that I can hopefully make the next one instead - as ever, one step forward and two steps back whenever you think you're free enough to make it out the door with this lovely condition!

Kindest regards

Nicki
