NRAS Group Meeting—Week Commencing 19th May 2014

Medway NRAS Group

This group meet at the Medway Health Staff Social Club at Medway Maritime Hospital, Windmill Road, Gillingham, Kent ME7 5NY bi-monthly on a Monday from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

19th May - A member of the Podiatry team will come and talk about physiotherapy and foot care

Maidstone NRAS Group

Bi-monthly meetings are held at Tremain Hall, Aylesford Village Community Centre, 25 Forstal Road, Aylesford ME20 7AU on Tuesdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

20th May - Sarah Collins, Psychotherapeutic Counsellor will be talking about 'Emotions, Relationships and Sexuality'

Plymouth NRAS Group

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month from 2:00pm-4:00pm in the meeting room at St Budeaux

Library, The Square, Victoria Road, St Budeaux, Plymouth PL5 1RQ.

20th May - Guest speaker: Charlie Carville, Rheumatology Pharmacist at Derriford Hospital

Southend-on-Sea NRAS Group

Thelma co-ordinates this NRAS group. Meetings take place bi-monthly at the Salvation Army Citadel (opposite

Morrisons), 146-148 London Road, Hadleigh, Essex, SS7 2PF on a Tuesday from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.

20th May - Guest speaker: Billy Fashanu, Consultant Physiotherapist from Southend Hospital

St. Helens NRAS Group

The group meets every other month in Room 8 at St Helens Town Hall, Victoria Square, St Helens, WA10 1HP from 6.30pm to 8pm.

20th May - 'The Impact of RA on Emotions and Relationships' by Clare Jacklin, NRAS Director of External Affairs

Bath NRAS Group

Meetings are held bi-monthly on a Wednesday from 6:30-8:30pm at The Open House Centre in Manvers Street Baptist Church, Bath, BA1 1JW.

21st May - Julie Russell, Specialist Physiotherapist, RNHRD – 'The Importance of Physiotherapy in the Treatment of RA'

Yeovil NRAS Group

The May meeting of this group will be held at the Yeovil Hospital gym (BA21 4AT) from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Surrey NRAS Group

This group meets at St. Francis Church Hall, 121 Upper Chobham Road, Frimley, Surrey, GU15 1EE bi-monthly on a Tuesday from 7:00pm-9:00pm, unless otherwise stated below.

Wednesday 21st May 7:45-9:30pm - Dr. Rod Hughes, Rheumatologist – RA and Relationships

North East NRAS Group

The North East Group run bi-monthly educational meetings which are held in the Education Centre, Level 1, Freeman Hospital, High Heaton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE7 7DN from 5.30pm-8.00pm.

22nd May - Fiona Stacey, 'Oral Hygiene'

You, your family, friends and healthcare professionals are all very welcome to attend and you don’t have to be a member of NRAS to attend a group meeting!

Quarterly meetings are held at Welwyn Civic Centre, Prospect Place, Welwyn AL6 9ER on a Tuesday from 7:00pm-8:30pm unless otherwise stated.

Swansea NRAS Group

Wales

Meetings are held at Sketty Parish Centre, De La Beche Road, Sketty, Swansea, SA2 9AR from 7:30pm-9:00pm unless otherwise stated below. Car parking adjacent and full disabled access.

Meeting dates and speakers 2014

9th June - Meet the new Consultant Rheumatologist, Dr S. Smale and members of his team

22nd September - Podiatry & Orthotics by Mr John Neathey, Assistant Head of Podiatry & Orthotic Services

December - date to be confirmed

Sad the Leeds group at Chapel Allerton Hospital has folded. I attended two excellent lectures/meetings there last year. Think the Leeds Muscular skeletal Research Unit there has some lectures and seminars one can attend if you ask, but not the same as a discussion group.

Leeds MBRU (non NRAS Group)

North of England

The Leeds Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit hold meetings every other month with speakers on various topics. Meetings are held in the LMBRU Imaging Unit at Chapel Allerton Hospital, Leeds, LS7 4SA. You do not need to be a patient at Chapel Allerton Hospital to attend these meetings but spaces are limited so you must call to reserve your space, please contact Sue Smith, Imaging Centre Manager on 0113 392 4474.

Thank you Kim .. glad that is still happening! I will check their website and see what is coming up. I attended the CA meetings when Domini Bryer, Biologics Nurse Specialist from LGI, lectured and did a Q&A and also when Tina Hawkins, Biologics Pharmacist at CA did similar. Both were excellent. I may have done them an injustice with their titles so sorry.
