You know when you get up at night to go to the loo and when you get back the dog is a dead weight on the covers? I have a job pulling up the duvet at the best of times without this large chap sprawled all over it. Wrists are not up to the challenge so it's all resting on obedience.
I'll just shiver then.

Thankfully my cat isn't that heavy but he does steal the duvet quite often!
Lol I had to laugh I've got 2 Dalmatians and they hog the bed , they love sleeping underneath the duvet , when they get to hot they pull all the duvet with them when they come out to cool off, so I'll join you with the shivering lol
On their back, all four paws holding the duvet up? That's what Tara our Dalmatian used to do! I'd love another but she was such a character no one could take her place. Oh & the hairs, needle-like sticking in you!
They're worse than jack Russell hairs arnt they lol
Get on the bed and give him a big cuddle he will lick your ear and push you back off the bed again with his paws!
If I have to go to the loo in the night my dog, Alfie, has taken my place at the top of the bed when I get back! It's amazing how heavy they are when they are asleep!
Lol😁 you are the first person that has described the hand/wrist problem. I thought I was weird and my Rheumy didn't mention it was just one of the symptoms you had to live with. So thankyou for that as I am struggling to understand what has happened me in the past four months to cope with being debilitated. Now on a happier note -- doggie solution is easy! When you return from loo,you have one of his/her treats (easy to reach) on a place away from bedside cabinet. Then its Good Boy /Girl as they have to get down to get it, Sit command as you painfully roll in and pull covers up, and up they come --- with extra licks of course!!
Great minds think alike! I've got treats in the bedside drawer and have stooped to bribery many times.
Sorry you're having trouble with your hands - completely sympathise. I'm getting so frustrated with mine at the moment. With any luck and the right meds, they'll get back to normal. Mine were fine until I had a brainstorm and decided to stop taking my meds. Back on it now and waiting for it to fully work.

Interesting you had not had hand and wrist. That the place that caused problems. My first RA appointment I was given cortisol shots in my fingers. What a relief that was. Baseline x-rays of hand, wrist and feet.
And yes, I have a very large cat, who loves to get in my spot in bed or couch, oh well. He loves me...
That should be cortisone shots, not cortisol..sorry! And best of luck.. curious where you are having RA issue, if not hand, wrist, feet... Francie
Thankyou Francie for taking the time to reply. Interesting --- it was summer last yr when hands first wouldn't close to form fist. Rheumy did ultrasound and said it was arthritis. By December I was stiff with restrictive movement. I paid privately for more scans but results went to Rheumy and got another app two months later. I am a pianist and had to cancel a concert and a couple of Xmas parties. Told to do exercises by physio and that was that until blood test July and Sept when the DNA was positive for antibody. Put just two weeks ago on Hydroxychloroquine x 400. The wrist can swell,be red and excruciating pain at 9ish at night and gone in morning. Or it could be any digit of finger or knee, shoulder or upper arm. So its called UCTD as they can't make it out. My career of piano playing is on hold. But please tell me about how you RA started and why you decided to stop meds? Are you doing ok now that you are back on them or do you still have "struggle days"? Reading your original post, you really had a stressful position as you said, I hope you have found fun things now to do! Puss sounds lovely!
Does anyone else find that no matter which duvet cover you have - any duvet from the cheapest synthetic to the best Down filling migrates off the end of the bed? (Even without a dog claiming your space)
I now arrange my duvet folded over at the top - making sure it will still cover my feet........it still migrates down.......but I've got my safety "fold over" & I don't have to get out of bed half way through the night & freeze to shuffle it back up!
I did get some elastic straps to clip on to each side.....but you had to slide them under the mattress & I couldn't manage that....so folding it over has to suffice!
I've been there so many times. I go off to bed later than my h so by the time I'm getting in my place is taken. The only effective way I've found to sit beside the accused & push with my bum, that usually does the trick.
attatel my gorgeous 'special' boxer curls up on my feet & I am one of these people who don't move in bed as might disturb her...reason I say she's 'special ' she can't swim so goes to doggy swim class so she learns the doggy paddle..she's the only dog there who wears a life jacket...the shame!
hi attatel i know how you feel i have 2 dogs cross staff and husky i had the same problem but i have dog treats in the beside cabanit when i get back i just throw 2 on there bed and they are gone and i have a lovely warm bed i cant pull the duvet up it hurts my wrists osteo arthritus ,xx
I moan, but I don't know what Id do without my weird dog. He's a Battersea dog (rescue), so he's got issues..... but then, haven't we all?!
