I was just wondering if anyone has ever had amnesty odd spasm in their chest? I have been having these really strong squeezing spasms that last just a brief second but make me feel nervous. Could just be hormones? Anyone have any experience with that?

A weird heart thing
I think the best course of action for you is to go to the drs and get it checked out as it will stop you worrying.xxxx
Yes very painful and now I'm loosing my hair more so under active thyroid now my fingernails want to try Humaria any suggestions? Please help
Stepwise, I did when I was on steroids , stopped as soon as I came off.
Go to see your GP, you're doing yourself no good by feeling nervous about it. There's probably a simple explanation and if not your doc will help sort it out. It won't go away by worrying about it. (Pretend we're holding your hand if it helps.) Please let us know how you go on.

I have had a number of heart things but the best advice is talk to your Dr. If they are concerning enough for you to feel worried you really should seek expert medical advice. It could be anything as simple as palpitations to something serious. Please see your Dr who can best advise you and assist. Best of luck
It sounds much like palpitations to me. Do you get a rush of adrenaline/fear and feel hot or sweaty afterwards? Best to go and see your doctor and tell then exactly what you are experiencing. Hopefully they will give you an ecg (painless, electrodes stuck on chest to monitor heart rhythm- no needles!). Palpitations are useually harmless but horrible to experience and there are medications that can help calm them but I think that with any pain to do with the heart its not worth taking the risks of ignoring, so go get it checked.
Best wishes, hope it's nothing
No rush. No fear. Just a hard squeeze.
I have been to ER twice in the past six months with same issue. Problem is I have reflux which gives me gas then chest tightness etc I also have cardiac problems. It is difficult to differentiate. It is very common to develop arteriosclerosis and CAD with RA. Doctors are now taking this issue seriously. There has been a statistical decline in cardiac death for RA as a result. There is never any harm done by looking into it. Ignoring it could have serious consequences. Please error on side of caution.
Hi Stewnamie, I think you have what I've been living with since 1992. It is called esophageal spasm, I'm going to post a website that might answer some of your questions, webmd.com/digestive-disorde..., But would advice you to go an see a Gastrologist. He would have to run a few test one being EGD. They feed a tube down you throat with a camera on it. They can try an induce a spasm or see if a spasm is going on. They gave me nito pills an spray to stop mine. I would end up in the Emergency Room couple times a month. There is a trick I found that works 99.9% of the time. Grab you a Cola of any kind an drink alot of it at once, stand up If you do it right you should need to belch. When you belch if it is big enough it will stop you esophageal spasms right away. I never can belch while laying or sitting that is why I said stand up. It needs to be big belch, to stop the spasm, small one won't do anything or at least for me they don't work.
Try that the next time you have an attack.
Oh yes when it hits you feels like someone has just plugged up your airway. You have to take small breaths . Its hard to talk while this is going on.
If you have anymore questions feel free to message me privately too.
My spasms started after I had 2/3 of my stomach removed due to cancer. The first time it hit me was in the middle of a bad snow storm. I thought I was having a heart attack. I had to have the Paramedics open the windows in the back of the ambulance so I could cool down some, cause I was sweating so bad.
Hope this might give you some options to consider.
That sounds far more intense than what I am experiencing but I will read up on the link to see if it sounds familiar. Thank you so much for your thorough reply.
Yes. When I was given IM depot steroids. My pulse and heart rate went nuts. Also developed weird cough. Tell your doc.
