Sore throat: Does anyone else on methotrexate suffer... - NRAS
Sore throat
Mine is sore,but i have thrush.xxx
Mine is not sore at moment but has been on and off in the last few months , I also get blocked nasals in my nose which can be annoying
If you're new to MTX or if you've had abnormal blood results then it's best to report both your sore throat & swollen glands to your GP or ask your Rheumy nurse for advice. Do you think you may have an infection or have a temperature?
Hi I have both a sore throat and swollen glands each week for two days after taking Methotrexate. I have been told that it is my body adjusting to the medication. Only been taking it for 7 weeks though
In short 'no, never!' been on MTX for 22 months now

My daughter was on mtx and suffered from sore throat and swollen glands very soon after starting it! She started it in March 2014 and I stopped it December 2014 because she was constantly bad and couldn't get rid of the swollen glands, chest infections, viral infections. The last straw was when the doctor told me he heard something that sounded like pulmonary lung disease 😱😱😱 . She still has the swollen gland now, which is extremely worrying. She is going to see a ear nose and throat specialist on Monday. Do you also get dizzy when you bend over? Xx
Sounds the same though I have recently had an X Ray and t was clear but yes I do get dizzy when I bend over
My daughter has had 2 X-rays also and nothing showed up. I asked for a sputum test and it showed infection. The dizziness doesn't happen as often and servier now. Rhumatology denies it has anything to do with mtx! This is why I stopped it xx
I don't get a sore throat but at the moment I have a mouthful of ulcers. I also have a permanent cough. I have been on methotrexate for about ten years.
I have had a slightly sore throat for a few days after every dose since increasing to 25mg.
I don't have a permanently sore throat and swollen glands but I am very, very prone to them. I do think you need checking out and ruling out anything else. MTX can suppress the immune system quite a bit, depending on dose and what else you're on.
