Hiya all I have been on mtx for about 7 years then in October last year I changed to injections. After about 3 months of doing this I started to feel quite ill so my rhumy stopped them. My last 1 was in Dec. I have been off work ever since due to feeling sick and bad headaches and bad fatigue, has anyone else taken so long to recover x

I don't think you can just put it down to the MTX. Have you had any other investigations?

I have had loads of blood tests done and everything comes bk ok apart from my liver. The doc just keeps saying I have to wait until it's all out of my system.

Given MTX only takes 3 months to get out of your system I would query this. I know its only 3 months as thats the time you have to wait before being allowed to try to conceive if wishing to get pregnant!

Sorry to hear you had a hard time on mtx injections most people find they are more effective and less bothersome than tablets. Hope your liver probs improve, and dont forget some of the exhaustion you feel may well be the ra flaring as you arent supressing it now. Just make sure your gp and rheumatology nurse are aware of how you are feeling so that when your blood tests have improved thay can start treating you again. good luck and hope you feel better soon.

How strange! I couldn't tolerate the tablet form of MTX, made me feel really ill, they tried me with injections and i tolerate them much better. I still get fatigued but think that is part of the RA and admit I get one day even more fatigued after injection but no nausea thankfully. I would check with whoever put you on MTX to see if this is normal, it could be something completely different. Good luck.
