How on earth do you lose a file when you have computers.xxxxx

Exactly and they must have procedures in place to track patients confidential files.

In the meantime the RA effects more of my joints.

He is feeling a lot brighter thank you.Now he realises it is not his heart and is probally his ribs causing all his problems and he seems a lot happier about it now. They won't listen to us will they, but he wants to go down the allotment this morning and he thinks he can drive well he is in for a shock as he is not allowed to drive before tomorrow so that means i am going down the allotment this morning with my papers and colouring books. Ha ha ha is he in for a shock when he knows i am coming.xxxxx

As a software engineering graduate 🤓 - you'd be surprised! Problem is most of the records are still kept in a paper file, this has to be stored somewhere (often in a different site, sometimes in a different county😳) and then requested, retrieved and delivered by human beings. We all make mistakes.

Yes, they do have procedures and processes to follow, see above. Human error affects all walks of life (particularly computer programs😚).

The story of moving all of the medical records to an electronic format accessible across the entire NHS would make your toes curl (like mine😀) if you knew how many billions of our money has been spent, and largely wasted, failing to make it happen. It is a massive job, incomprehensible to the layman. One day it will happen.

Regards

Ade

I worked most of my life in IT. It was the same in every field of work. Projects are not succeeding because the people funding them think everything is possible and anyone can do anything with a computer, easy peasey. Keep going and watch your toes. All the best.

Thank you and to you Ade bell. But it is my paper file that is missing and causing the delay.

They must have a system in place where if a file is removed then it is traceable and accountable.

Like I said, stored elsewhere and manually retrieved. Lots of places along the way to lose it. I'm not excusing it by the way, just saying it's not as simple as you'd think.

I worked for Social Services and if we needed a client file we had a card where we signed it in and out. Sounds a bit primitive but it was accountable.

Hope you and H are both well.xx
