How frustrating for you.

Have they said why,or given you another date ?

This is when things get lost in the system so unless you chase it up it goes nowhere.

Keep on the case Sylvi.

Hope you're not in too much pain and discomfort today.

The consultant had been called away darling. I am having a bad day and that phone call didn't help. The photo is of my son's new kitten and she is so cute.xxxxxx

Aw lovely little puss, looks like she can do with a little cuddle but will probably want to play.

When you are in a lot if pain the last thing you need is a call like that,no not helpful at all.

Try and keep on the case for new appointment and in the meantime just rest up,and look after yourself at the weekend.

Take care

Sorry your appointment cancelled Sylvi. Where I live they never give us appointments on a weekend, think we are just starved of money here in Shropshire ! Xxx

They are so backlogged here in Nuneaton thats why they had put on some Saturday appt.xxxxx

in reply to sylvi

Such a disappointment for you, hope you get another appt very soon. They should be offering weekend apps here but all we hear is - no money, they are even still saying that our A & E has to close here in Telford, also our women/children's unit which only opened two yrs ago at a cost of £28 million, its madness. Xxx

I live in Powys and we have to use Shropshire NHS as no large hospitals in Powys and its the same story - no money.

Furthermore our services have been moved from Shrewsbury to Telford and now looking to close that.

It's very worrying things just seem to be declining by the day.

Hi Crusee, it's very disturbing that NHS across Shropshire/Mid Wales is in such a state, we definitely need much more money to run our services properly. I was at Royal Shrewsbury on Wednesday at the breast clinic, the place was totally heaving, how they can talk about closures shocks me. Which rheumatology clinic to you go to ? I used to go to Gobowen, but attend the community rheumatology clinic now at Telford. Xx

Crusee in reply to

I still go to Gobowen but I have changed rheumys. The one I used to see Mr A has moved to Telford but I must say I got on very well with him,and was sorry to see him go.

It's taken a while but I get on ok with Mr EG now.,my new rheum you.We didn't gel at first but it's just his manner,Now I am used to him I find him very thorough.

I go to my renal unit at the Hummingbird in Shrewsbury every other month and also an eye clinic at Shrewsbury( going to put in for planning permission for my own parking space soon ) - that's another story.

It's bad enough not having any emergency facilities in our town,Shrewsbury was far enough, then things moved to Telford so if that changes we are thoroughly stuffed.

Let's just hope someone sees sense and leaves things alone.I am not holding my breath.!

Crusee, Daisymay, ..... any other mid-Wales or Shropshire people .... I've moved to another county now but was previously in Shropshire. I can wholeheartedly recommend Hereford Hospital Rheumatology department. The hospital possibly doesn't get great ratings but rheumatology there is top notch. And they run a regular clinic in Ludlow so have good links with Shropshire which can help with biologics etc. That department truly saved my bacon! Efficient, very skilled, caring.

Hi Hidden yes I believe Hereford is a very good hospital. My brother goes to a clinic there and they seem very efficient and on the ball.

I don't really have an issue with Gobowen it's just this cross border politics which slows things down a bit, but apart from that I find them excellent.Gobowen is also a lot closer for me than Hereford is so it would make sense to stay put at the moment. But thanks for the info I will keep them in mind if anything should change.

As Hidden says we need more money!

Thanks for that info Postle, - worth bearing in mind if things get any worse in Shropshire. Xx

in reply to Crusee

Snap - I see Dr El Garbi at Telford, he's very kind and understanding and very thorough like you say. I also attend eye clinic at Shrewsbury as well !! However, they say that's moving to Telfords PRH, whatever next .... xx

We have probably been sat in the same waiting rooms at the same time waiting to see the same consultants and not even known it.

I agree with the others to call the consultants secretary as my next appointment was 5 months but letter said next review in 2 months and to have a blood test every 2 weeks. I called the help line to ask for more blood forms and asked if I should continue to have 2 weekly blood tests until February. They said was too long so changed the appointment to December.

I've been told by a friend that the appointments are made in a centre in Bristol but not sure if this is the same as me as I am under another hospital but not that many miles away and possibly maybe almalgating in the near future.

Hope you are sorted soon

Best of luck

why is it neuro surgeons do that. Every time I had an appointment it would be cancelled and moved another 1 to 3 months down the track. Very annoying. hope you get another one soon

Oh nooooo - I don't blame you for being annoyed. On the other hand, that kitten is to die for...

You are entitled to get an NHS referral outside your area so go on to the NHS site and see where the lowest waiting lists are and ask for a referral there. Also, either ask your GP to search for the earliest appt or do it yourself. You could ask for an appt in London, for instance. I really would not wait for all their messing around. You could be waiting for another year.

DArling don't worry i won't be waiting long as i will kick up a fuss about it at the hospital.xxxxx

I have had a text telling me i have an appt at 3.00pm this Friday, xxx

I wouldn't ask for a London appoitment as it is just as bad, if not worse here, we have one A&E hospital for the whole of West London and that is the West Middlesex who have a very small waiting area for a population of a million. They have just started Saturday working, my local cottage hospital have always worked weekends.

Keep on the case about an appointment, it is always patients that don't turn up isn't it :(, I have had a similar problem and they tried to push it back 3 months, I made it clear I wouldn't be able to even get out in 3 months except by ambulance, they suddenly found an appointment that was just 1 month late and that still needed PTS to get me there. The latest one was a month late and fortunately I was still able to get there, the next one will be 6 months not 7, 8 or 9 as I will be on their case or I will be housebound and extremely frustrated.
