Denosumab / Prolia

bassiefromholland profile image

Because of osteoporosis caused by years of using prednisolon I have to take an injection with denosumab/Prolia every six month.

Denosumab injection (Prolia) is used to treat osteoporosis (a condition in which the bones become thin and weak and break easily) in men and in women who have undergone menopause (''change of life;'' end of menstrual periods), who have an increased risk for fractures (broken bones) or who cannot take or did not respond to other medications for osteoporosisl

Today i had the first.

For my RA I am on mtx injections, prednisolon and Sulfasalazine .

Has anyone experience with denosumab /Prolia, and did you have side effects?

Wish you all a great weekend.

Bas

I haven't had this, but I have been reading up about osteoporosis treatments as I suspect I will have to start something soon. I did notice that the information sheet said you needed to tell your doctor if you were taking corticosteroids (like prednisolone). Not sure if that means you shouldn't take both together, or if its just that they need to know to get the dose right. Might be worth asking about next time you see the doctor.

Hi Earthwitch, that is right. My Rheumy gave me denosumab, ans she told me it was no problem.

Thanks for your reply.
