I had my wrist replaced on 19th November, it was put in a slab with bandage, then in a plaster for 5 weeks, then into a support made by the hand therapist. However, my wrist is pulling to the left side, and is very stiff. Anyone else had a wrist replacement whereby your hand is not in the correct position after the replacement?

Yes, I have had both my wrists fused. They were done some thirty years ago and one hand is set at a an angle slanting towards the upper area of my hand and the other slanting down towards the under side of my hand. They are set like this to enable me to pick things up and do every day things without too much problem. It is surprising that when you haven't got movement in your wrists how difficult some simple every day operations can be. I did have a prosthesis joint in the left wrist first but in started to come apart after 18 months and had to have it fused like the right one. However, this was 30 odd years ago so things have no doubt changed for the better since then. I have had an elbow joint replacement in the last two years and it is perfect. Things will be stiff to start but with physio, I suspect you will soon get used to the new joints. I should not worry too much as they are will soon have you back to perfect. I really wish you well.
It's early days for the stiffness to have been worked on enough to be minimal. I'm sure that you are doing your exercises and will soon find that, looking back, you are amazed how much better it is.
Hi I've had both done and they tend to go out ward meaning the right seems to go more to the right but mine were stabilised with a bar some six years and more you will learn to use them normally for you and you wont notice after a bit x
I had my left wrist replacement 25 February. Back slab for 2 weeks, then plastic splint. Am now being 'weaned off' my soft support. Having physio every 2 weeks plus lots of exercise at home. The wrist is bent to the left. My consultant wants me to try to straighten it. How, I wonder! It's so stiff and still extremely painful.
