It does usually take quite a bit of time, so you may not get the first prescription then and there. Often you have to have a couple of tests to check that you're ok to try them, for example to make sure you have no undiagnosed lung issues. They also need funding approval, as they are expensive, so that can take time. It depends whether your rheumy department has already started the process or are waiting u til they see you first.

Hi, it's as helixhelix has said, you'll need chest X-rays to make certain you're clear of TB.

I had an appt with a nurse to show me how to inject and to practice with a dummy pen.

Once my consultant said I was to have it I think it took about 6 weeks before I got it.

As both of these replies mine was the same except it took longer as someone 'lost' my funding approval paperwork. Was worth the wait though has been fantastic for me for the last 2 years.

Hi Richard- which biologic are you taking and do you take it with Methotrexate? Thx. Doreen

Hi

I was just wondering if you had seen the information on the biologic therapies on the NRAS website?

There are individual articles on all of the current biologic options as well as the licensed biosimilar versions - nras.org.uk/medication

nras.org.uk/publications/bi...

As others have stated the process to getting your prescription can take a while, try to get an estimate of the time required when you next see your nurse as this does vary from area to area.

Best wishes

Hi Binlid

As I write this I'm waiting for my first delivery of Enbrel a Biologic med. I've been given a two hour window for delivery.

The nurse is coming tomorrow at Midday to teach me how to inject/use the drug.

It has taken 6 weeks exactly from my consultant prescribing and me having all the tests to my first dose.

Good luck with your journey.
