I received my appointment today for my pre-op at the beginning of November, how long did any of you ladies wait after that for your operation ?
Pre-op: I received my appointment today for my pre-op... - NRAS
Pre-op
hi NG, hope you don't mind if I write that, it's quicker than full name. I'm new on Nras. although I use 3 other forums for health reasons.
I saw your post titled pre-op yesterday, just after I'd received my blood test results, all 3 conditions get lumped into 1 big result set of pages, all sent separately to me, my doc and 2 Consultants, (Haematologist and gastroenterologist) my third condition is autoimmune thyroiditis, Hashimoto's with side effects of that & BRain Injury Mar 2013.
can you explain what you mean by a pre-op, logic gives me the meaning of the words, but can't relate it to my blood test for the gastro. under the heading of haemostase-coagulation it says TP Préop) 68%. There is a *marker after then (>70) for the norm.
- previous result was test done 20/12/2014 and just reads as 72. i live in France but am english.
below is INR 1.21 & same date as above previous 1.15, there is no norm given for them.
I was put on so many different meds alternately last year by my doc they so messed with my brain , I started coming off them myself totally last autumn, and having a BI! through 3 separate head traumas in 9 months in 2013, plus lots of stress through personal circumstances. most of the neural stuff I.e effects of brain injury, seemed to be better once I stopped, but now seem to have more unrelated things going wrong based on quarterly blood test results, sometimes same test is better then worse again!
I hope you make sense of this, my thyroid is splattered, I also have non-specific cirrhosis, as well as the autoimmunity. so now I'm worrying the lab was told something as had blood test Weds am followed 4 hrs later by an MRI, result of which I hope to know on Monday when I see the Gastro.
I have a very creaky neck when turning my head, had that lightly for years but worse since car accident Nov last year, plus last 2 or 3 days creaking shoulders. have had 3 foot ops on r foot between 14 and 55 yrs old, now 68. bad r knee, used to be o/weight but not been for a year. lump on r wrist for several years, not painful, always had trouble walking made worse by balance issues since BI. because of seeing your post title just wonder if lab and MRI dr had a chat, as she asked for last test results, this was about my 4 or 5 MRI since Feb last yr and not been asked for blood tests results before. the MRI was for my liver. that's all I think & hope.
Mine was two weeks after my pre op I was having surgery, I was told they cant leave the time between the pre op and surgery longer than 2 weeks.
Not long, usually the letter for surgery appt comes before the pre op, good luck x
I'm not sure if this is generally the case but a pre-op is valid for a month prior to ops in my local hospital before they need to be performed again. Hope it's just a matter of a few weeks for you, the op is successful & you recover quickly.
Hi nellysgran,
I've had a look at the NICE guidelines for pre-op assessments and they do not give a definitive time between assessment and op.

It would seem that the waiting time is very much dependent on type of surgery and which CCG you are under. Hope you get a quick turnaround and a successful op.
Regards
Beverley
My pre op is on October 16th and the actual op is planned for 5th November.
And you - keep in touch
Hi
I was told they have up to 3 months which seems a nonsense as any tests they do will be completely out of date. It used to be that you had your pre-op 1 week prior to surgery. I assume it has to do with targets as pre-op counts when they are set targets for how long people should wait.
I do hope that your hospital doesn't wait that long.
