I developed one of these behind my left knee and eventually it felt like it popped or at least suddenly dispersed with a little swelling afterwards at the site. It burst while I was kneeling so squashing the bursa I think. Hope yours is as simple.
I've had my knees done by a specialist nurse and by a registrar.
I had one and as far as I remember it was bandaged up? It was very sore and my Rheumy said it showed my RA wasn't controlled enough x
I doubt that most GPs would take this on.
I have the Baker's cyst and the Rheumatologist hasn't ever mentioned any treatment. Good luck. Cheers Doreen
I had mine in the injection clinic with two doctors. I was very sceptical it would do anything to be honest, mine was the size of an egg in the back of my knee and I could hardly walk with it. What a relief when it did go. Good luck x
hi orrell,
I have put a link to the information on the NHS website about Baker's Cysts below for you:
nhs.uk/Conditions/Bakers-cy...
Hope this helps you and everyone else on this thread

A registrar in hospital did mine after they had checked for DVT (I think it had burst causing the calf to swell but also I had just been on an aeroplane hence the check for this DVT.)
But have had aspiration and steroid injections in knees many times given by either rheumatology specialist nurse or registrars at injection clinics.
