Hi all, I've been put back on sulpazalazine after 6 years of being off medication. I feel like I'm getting worse I ache and feel tired all the time and the pain and stiffness doesn't seem like it's going. Is there anything I can do along with taking painkillers that will ease it. I try not to let it get me down but it's hard. Hope I don't sound to whiney.
Thanx Kirsty x

It can take some weeks before you get results of te sulfasalasine , my Rheumy in the Netherlands gives me an injection with Kenacort to bridge. And that gives a good result when I am put on new meds ! Wish you all te best and hope you will feel better soon.
Hiya Kirsty. I'm sorry you're not feeling any benefit from sulfasalazine, though you don't say how long you've been taking it. If you've been on it some while, over 12 weeks, it may be that the dose isn't right for you or simply that it's not the med for you, not everyone reacts the same way & some don't react at all to some DMARDS so don't worry. Do you have a Rheumy nurse you can contact, if you don't have a Rheumy appointment any time soon? If you've been taking it a while you may need another med may be helpful to get you over this waiting time if it's recently introduced, possibly a steroid or NSAID, your nurse should be able to advise.
Oh & you're not whiney, you're in pain, there's a difference & we understand. I hope you can get help, it's rotten feeling as you do I know, I'm feeling somewhat the same just now so empathise.
Hi I've been on sulpazaline for 2 months now, hopefully I will start feeling better soon. I think the nurse said it takes up to 3 months to properly work. I just checked my diary, my mind has been all over the place. I shall give the nurse a call and see what advice she has. Thank you for replying x
Hello, you aren't whiney at all, it's what we're here for because we understand how it feels. I'm really sorry you've had to go back on meds, I hope they kick in soon and help you maintain normality. Just stick with it and hopefully it won't be long until you're feeling a bit better. It's horrible when you feel tired and achy, and i imagine its disappointing when you've been ok for so long too, to then have to go back to meds. It'll be worth taking them though. Take care x
Thank you all for replying, i kind of feel like I'm going backwards now I'm on medication and going to all the hospital and doctors appointments and sometimes I feel so sick I can't manage to take my meds. Just got to keep pushing and hopefully I'll start feeling better soon 😊 x
I don't have any experience to advise you on the above but don't feel bad.
I don't think there's any such thing as "too whiney" when you are in such good company lol. It seems we all need to come here and vent and get some moral support.
