We need your views ahead of the NICE review of RA drugs

In order to build our patient organisation submission prior to the review by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) of 7 biologic treatments, we need to hear your experiences ASAP.

NRAS CEO Ailsa Bosworth is the principal expert patient involved in the current review by NICE of 7 (out of the 8) biologic DMARDS for which original guidance was given some time ago. As more evidence about the use of these drugs accumulates over time, it is necessary to review their use in the NHS. The next meeting at NICE to re-appraise the clinical and cost effectiveness of these drugs is on 21st May.

The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The information will be completely anonymous unless you give permission at the end of the survey for us to contact you further.

Doing the survey was a bit disturbing. Do you think that with all the cuts etc there is any chance of biologics being taken out of the equation or new ones not being available or the criteria being made more difficult?

Hi Cathie, we very much hope not. That's why we need to get as many people taking part as possible to show that this cannot happen. We'll keep you posted during the process.

Done & thank you for the opportunity. This is something I feel we all need to complete whether or not our disease has progressed enough or failed DMARDs for the need for biologics or not so please everyone do take a look & complete if you care to. Our future health could depend on our views.
