I can't shift them so easily any more & put that down to MTX now & my immune system not fighting colds as well as I used to before taking HCQ & MTX. Obviously it depends where it settles but my mum used to say they a cold attacks your weakest point & they do tend to stay on my chest long after the sore throat, sniffles & coughs have gone. A month is probably the least time when I get a cold for nowadays & the norm is I end up on antibiotics.

If yours is problematic Laura & lasting longer than the norm I'd see your GP just to be on the safe side. We have to be careful on MTX & if it's settled on your chest you'd be wise to get it checked out. Don't be thinking you're bothering your GP just because it's a cold. I hope it doesn't last too long, I have been known to flare nearing the end of a persistent one. ;)

Yep--- I've had a fluey type virus -- the one where you go straight to bed after work type----and I've had awful joint pain and swelling which I can't seem to shift. I hope you are feeling better soon x

I have just discovered something called First Defence sold in Boots and clinically proven to prevent colds or flu or reduce symptoms. They are nose drops which line the nasal passages and prevent virus or bacteria being absorbed. It is important to use them at the first sign of a cold but can also be used if one is going to be in a situation where colds and flu germs are possibly about. They are not expensive.

I have taken them this week. I was a bit late starting as I often have a runny nose so didn't realise it was a cold coming. However, I seem to have recovered quickly from putting the drops in several times a day.

Worth a try? xx
