first snow fall: first snow of winter over the Pennines... - NRAS
first snow fall
We live in the Erewash Valley, surrounded by rivers, canals, and a huge power station. It's very rare we get any snow, but occasionally we do. Hope it misses us this year.
We're on the NW coast June so any snowfall usually soon disappears because of the natural salts in the sand but I hate being cold so ski jacket & gloves newly bought & Flyflot grippy-soled ankle boots ordered! Daren't wait for Santa to bring them, he mostly always gets it wrong! I put things that are more specific that he can't get wrong on my list lol!
I remember though when I was a girl going to relatives Bury/Heywood way with mum & dad to take Christmas presents & having to turn back half way over Belmont (W. Pennine moors) because the snow was so deep & of course cars weren't built as they are now so always carried a mat & a shovel in the boot for when we got stuck!!
Morning, would you let me know how you get on with the boots. My h always says they won't work moan groan etc. hate it when it's icy,not very steady these days.
We don't get much snow here where we're living at the moment on the east coast & when we lived in London it never lasted for very long with the amount of traffic & people. Loved to see it from a far but hate the all accidents etc that it causes. x
I already have a pair in brown Caza, bought in autumn last year & lived in them right up to when it got warm! That's why I jumped on a pair in black. All Flyflots have very grippy soles, even on wet granite, tiles etc. & means you're very sure footed & these are no different. It's not the tread that stops slipping it's what the soles are made of. These are the one's I bought ebay.co.uk/itm/141497882303...
I normally go down a size in the sandals & clogs but went up a size in the boots so I could wear socks with them & put an insole in if I needed to.
You just tell your h that he can slip & slide & risk falling but you don't want to run that risk lol!
They look nice,I was expecting great big moon boots! I'll get on the case when im indoors is out! x
You do that! I have skinny legs so moon boots look daft on me but these do the job yet still look a bit more stylish. One thing that takes some getting used to as my h, m-i-l & s-i-l found out is you can't just slide out of the way or suddenly put on the brakes because they grip the ground so well & you can easily just fall over because your foot hasn't moved with the rest of you! Once you're aware then it's ok. I have bought them from here pavers.co.uk/women/shop-by-... & eBay but I always buy new because if they're not the inner sole will have the previous owners footprint embedded in it because it's like memory foam & moulds to the shape of your own foot. Who would want second hand shoes anyway euuue?!
Hi Junebee. I lived in West Yorkshire on the Pennines until I was nearly 30 and we had some heavy snowfalls there. I live in Essex now where it's very rare to see much snow. I miss the lovely views of white fields and moorlands like Christmas card scenes. Not sure that I miss wading knee deep through the stuff to get to work though! Angela.
Oo oo. Just added another pressie to my list, or rather bought it for my h to wrap & give to Santa to leave for me. My very favourite perfume was discontinued a good few years ago & been searching for it for all that time but only seen it on eBay on buy it now at silly money. I found it the other day & just bid & won an unopened bottle, yay!! One happy bunny here!
None here thankfully! Don't need it trying to get to and fro hospitals lol!
