Mouth shingles
You should contact your rheumatology nurse or doctor immediately. Better safe than sorry. Hope your daughter is feeling better soon. Clemmie
Oooch. Not heard of it only being in the mouth before but I would treat it the same as anywhere else on the body. The main thing you need to know is whether you've had chickenpox or not. If you're not sure I would be very careful & not share any cups, cutlery etc, toothpaste, towels etc. with anyone in the household who hasn't had chickenpox, unless there's a littlie who you want to get it so it's out if the way for later years. Also be careful with bedding, especially her pilowcase the rest couple of weeks, maybe more as I'm not sure how the blisters are going to heal being in a moist atmosphere of the mouth.
I hope she doesn't find it too uncomfortable & it eases soon. Watch that it doesn't spread to her eye & ear & keep an eye on it spreading the next few days. I take it her GP has given her an anti viral, aciclovir or similar?
I certainly think you need to seek advice, either from your Rheumy or GP just to be on the safe side.
Thanks for your reply heels she's got a prescription the chemist by us hasn't got the strength she needs, she has to go back later! Myself & my husband have had chickenpox so I think we should be ok xxx
