I have been diagnosed with shingles

I have been given anti viral tablets, and stop meth and hydrox. The rash is not paining only when touched, but the pain appears to be inside my abdomen on the same side as the rash. Does anybody have any similar experiences with shingles. I dont know what I should expect.

I contacted shingles in my late teens (am 60 now), along the bra line of my back. I remember it being painful and feeling extremely tired. The tiredness continued for several months afterwards. Years later the 'tingling' still occurs at times on the site of the shingles, it seems to appear when I am at my lowest, at these times I ensure that I get extra rest. In addition when I had my bout they only prescribed paracetamol for the pain and temperature whereas now you are given other tablets.

Thanks for your reply, my rash has come out at the bottom of my ribcage, it is itchy, so you scratch and then its painful, but just keeping it covered with dressing to stop infecting anyone. I have been told by my friend that it comes out when your stressed, as you said, so we must not get run down lol. Many thanks.

I've not had shingles but just want to say sorry you are having such a rough time. I've heard shingles can be very painful. How long do you have to be off your metho and hydrox for? I've had loads of infection in the past and coming off the meds was hell for me, with no steroid as back up? Hope you are coping as well as you can. Best wishes.

Thanks for your reply, I have to come off metho and hydrox for two weeks, will this mean I will be suffering with pain. Yes, the shingles is painful, but I just have to get on with it. Many thanks for your kindness

I had a weird case of shingles a year ago, but then my body is extremely weird in how it reacts anyway. I got one spot on my face that was it, but had horrendous neuralgia pain on the side of my head. It was diagnosed too late to have the antivirals so I just upped the pain meds. I still get pain if I am run down. good luck and I hope it clears up quickly for you

Thanks for that , I am sorry you have been left with neuralgia, I had severe pain on the left side of my face all day yesterday, is that what happens. I took tramadol, and then was sick. You cant seem to win lol .

Luckily I haven't had it for a while now but I occasionally get like electrical shock feeling on the side of my head if I am really sick or flaring, but mostly I am good. I hope yours passes soon it is horrible.

I had shingles whilst taking Humira, methotrexate and steroids. Very painful indeed together with extreme exhaustion. Really hope you get over shingles as soon as possible. Try and rest as much as possible.xx
