YES! Don't let them let it drift. Chase them, and especially as I was told that they will try turn everyone down then it is up to how serious you are about appealing to ensure you get it. It made my RA flare with all the upset when they did that to me. Despite being hardly able to move and hours of early morning stiffness and pain, I was sent for a farcical assessment by a non medical person at ATOS and then put into the looking for work group, etc. Was sent to the Employment office and the young officer apologised and asked ... Why are you here? We can't send you for work as you are not fit enough or reliable enough and would be not capable of even getting there! Exactly as my consultant and GP had written in their letters to DWP. My letters/appeal and perseverence turned it around within a month after receiving the letter turning me down, but it was so upsetting and stressful for them to do this. Best of luck. x
thank you for your reply that's encouraging to stick with it iam having a bad time at the moment with ra can only just manage to get dress my self and walking is out of the question at the moment .
Hi lucinda
I am so sorry to read you are in such a bad way at the moment. I noticed your post as I think you were diagnosed just before me last autumn. Sounds to me like you need an urgent review by rheumy and perhaps as neonkitty has suggested, a steroid inj to get you going again. Please don't think you just have to put up with it, there is help out there. Xx
So sorry to hear that lucindajune Was in bed until recently for 18 hours a day. Exhausted and in horrible stiffness/pain but my knee injections have got me moving and hopefully Rituximab will start working. Please don't be put off and get someone to type your letters if you can and let the DWP know you have had to do that too. They assume a sensible comprehensive coherent letter means you can go to work if you are capable of doing that. These things take people ages to compile/type etc. Think it will go better for you if let it be known EVERYTHING is very difficult and many things impossible at the moment .. but remember it won't always be like that and I hope you find relief from a medication that works for you very soon. Have you been able to have a general hydrocortisone injection to the bottom or in specific joints to tide you over and give much needed relief and hopefully some mobility. Good luck and sending gentle hugs. xx
