Hi there. I've not taken Leflunamide but I'm on MTX which gives me tinnitus mostly in my left ear. It's a loud whistle which fills my head at times. When I came off MTX for 6 months it did subside a bit but it came back loud and clear when I went back on to it. It doesn't bother me too much. I think I've just got used to it! Angela x

Thanks, Angela. I was on Mtx but didn't notice it then. I am getting used to it now. Anne x

Now I think about it, I used to have tinnitus when on MTX too. I came off it a year in January just take my Leflunomide now. Had no Tinnitus recently.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't have it while on Mtx, not been on leflunomide long, perhaps it will go! Anne x

I have had tinnitus for some years. Cant remember when it started tho. Have been on methotrexate for more than 12 years and etanercept for about 2. I never thought to blame mxt but perhaps I should! I suppose all these drugs are toxic to some degree :(

Thanks for your reply. I daren't think of the poison we are filling our bodies with! Hopefully they will stop us having deformation of joints. I try not to think about what I am shovelling down my throat!! Anne

Also consider B12 deficiency, Magnesium, Zinc and Iron. (Google these deficiencies and Tinnitus.)

Thanks for your reply. Recently had B12 test, so that is ok. I do take an over 50's vitamin tablet, so hopefully the others are taken care of. Anne x

That is good to hear DrWhoFan, do hope you get to the bottom of your Tinnitus problem soon.

No, but Naproxen (no longer take) gave me buzzing in the ears, and sometimes Ibuprofen can, but thankfully it doesn't last but is very loud momentarily and a bit startling.

Thanks for your reply. Mine is more like hissing at the moment!

I've had tinnitus for over 30 years. It didn't seem to be any worse once I started RA meds.

Thanks for your reply. 30 years, gosh! I would think that might drive you mad at times.

I'm quite used to it by now. I just make sure there is some noise around me all the time - I have tv on low at night. Don't think I could stand it without background noise!

I agree with you. If there is no background noise, all I can hear is the hissing. Now as I type, although there is background noise the hissing is quite loud!!!!

Agree if anyone has this permanently it must be really awful, sorry. It just seemed to come for about 15-30 seconds at a time a few times a day then not for days. Nothing really and very grateful it went. It was definitely the anti-inflams. I once worked for a guy who had been in WW2 and had got severe ringing all the time due to bombs causing tinnitus. Poor chap was always so pleasant and never complained. He just sometimes had a little difficulty if anyone spoke quietly and mentioned he was not deaf as such but the tinnitus could make hearing difficult sometimes.

Hi

I'm new to this site, I read what everyone writes on this site, I've been on Lefluomide for about 6 months now I haven't experienced any tinnitus, but at the moment I'm scratching everywhere, but there's nothing ,no rash, so I'm putting it down to the Leflunomide I'm taking, someone has suggested taking antihistamines, but I'm going to wait till the end of the month when I see my consultant, has anyone else had this itchyness.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear about your itchy skin. Instead of taking antihistamines try getting some cream. This is what I use when I get itchy! Take care. Anne
