Tired, tired, tired......: Hi all, hope you're all well... - NRAS
Tired, tired, tired......
Yep, I'm often tired, and I'm randomly tired - I'll have a busy day and be fine, and a quiet day and be knackered. Makes no sense. It's a symptom of the disease and a side effect of the drugs, so we really can't win. Since I have not been working, I have really learned to pace myself. Also I found a rheumatologist who took it seriously - he prescribed hydroxychloroquine in addition to the 20mg of mtx I was already on, saying it would help with the fatigue. It took a long time to notice the difference, and in that time I gave up work and with it a whole pile of stress, so it might have been that - but I am less tired than I was. But some days I have to have an afternoon nap.
Hang in there. You're not alone.
Dotty x
Fatigue is a well known problem with RA. I have had tiredness llike I have never experienced before. I thought I knew what tiredness was before I got RA!
I am not sure what you can do for it, I am quite newly diagnosed and I am sure there will be lots of other peole on here who can advise, in the meantime I wish you better.
I could hardly move of the couch , I was so tired and worn out, then I got my diagnosis, and once the drugs kicked in, I got back to my normal self, with more energy. Now going in the other direction again, as I am diagnosed with fibro as well. Hope you feel lively soon
Hello
I am on 10mg meth, naproxen and folic. I feel exhausted. Literally thinking omg how will I get out of bed in the morning as I am so tired ! x
Personally I only get the 'tiredness' when I'm flared or my condition is not controlled. Once my inflammation markers start to come down , my energy levels start to rise and the tiredness goes away. It might be worth checking with your GP about your antidepressants and whether they are the right ones for you . I took them once and I was falling asleep over the place! Hope you get sorted soon Pat x
Same as everyone else, RA and sjogren's syndrome make me feel wiped out all the time. I was on 25mls methotrexate injections with 10mg Leflunomide, now just the Leflunomide for reasons explained elsewhere on the forums. Joint problems are already starting, so will probably end up contacting my rheumy to sort me out again. I don't to to bed, but as soon as I sit down - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Eyes just won't stay open!!
Hi Lou, yes I'm with you and everyone else with the tiredness. I'm on 20 of mtx and folic acid, had a depo injection end of November. Like Dotty says its so random as well. I had a bad patch before Christmas which I think was mainly work induced and I did pick up a bit but the last 5 days have been dreadful.
I liken RA a bit to being pregnant, I feel totally wiped out all the time with the fatigue that is indescribable and sick through the meds. When you're pregnant it's fine because you know that it's all worth it and it will end. Let's hope to get these meds sorted and get some relief. I take hope from people on here who say how much better they feel when that happens. Take care Rx
Its all part of the RA, best thing you can do is take it easy. The mtx can make you more tired than usual for a few days after taking it but I am on 15mg mtx.x
This is really good to hear (sorry! Odd thing to say!) I'm in the process of being diagnosed (bloods positive) and symptoms of a flare up. I just walked up the stairs and didn't know if I was going to make it to the top so came on here to search 'tiredness' at 37 and being fit all my life, the stairs should not be my biggest challenge, I did the London Moonwalk 24miles in 5hrs 40mins back in 2010 ... look at me now ... sigh!
