I have had a cold recently and feel really drained, no life about me at all. I am on Abatacept now since July last year and doing very well on it indeed. For the first 3/4 months I was full of energy, cleaning the house, going out socially, taking the dogs on really long walks.......then gradually my energy levels seemed to gradually reduce. Since I started with this cold at the beginning of the week I am so tired and lethargic.
I've noticed that even when I do go out for a social evening the next day I am fit for nothng!! I am a vegaterian and eat very healthily, although I have a huge sweet tooth!! I also take 4,000 mg of vitamin C everyday.
Maybe it's just post holiday blues.......but I don't thnk so, I just have no energy.......any ideas?

I think it's probably post viral fatigue. I have been like it since my Xmas rota virus and just wiped out. Hubby has flu... Never known him off work and daughter now in bed with flu. All feels very stressful and exhausting, do u think it could be the same after your cold?
One of the problems with RA is the the feelings you describe. Also the immune system is suppressed and so you will feel that much lower. The Biologic you are on also effects you in the same way, so it may be a good idea to contact the RA nurse for some additional advice as sometimes it may be an idea to reduce the dose for a week or two, if you have not done so already, the nurse or even GP will advise on the best course of action.
You will generally get back to your lively, active self again very soon
Thanks for your replays. I'm going to see if I am still lethargic by the middle of the week and if there is no difference I will contact my rheumy nurse, who is just as good as any dr I've come across.
I think I am noticing it more because I was so full of energy in the summer. But the bad cold, the weather and being post holiday time I suppose that might being playing a part too. Thanks agin for taking the time to get back to me. X
