Hi sorry not posted for sometime but have been reading your blogs. I am about to go onto enbrel and was wondering how those who are on it are finding it and any tips what time of day to take it. First thing or just before bed. Reading all the booklets and just had the meds delivered then waiting for the nurse to contact me.
Do you take enbrel: Hi sorry not posted for sometime... - NRAS
Do you take enbrel
Hi, I inject Enbrel every Thursday morning on the front of my leg above the knee. Your nurse will give you all the help & support to help your confidence in managing your meds. It does sting & I have a raised lump appear quite soon after which does itch! This does calm down With your meds you should get a dairy for you to keep.I hope you get along well & feel the benefit soon. Good luck. Love Alison x
Hi Beeper
I have Enbrel for about seven years.I take it on a Saturday as I find it easier to remember, but I don't have a set time. I prefere to inject in my stomach.
I find sometimes it stings but other times I can't feel a thing!
Good luck!
Hi, i started my enbrel last Friday for the first time. Nurse came to support me and train in injecting. I used my stomach to inject and it didn't sting at all, due to the fact i took it out of fridge half hour before she came, gets it up to room temp.
She is coming tomorrow lunch, 2nd injection, i'm going to try injection in my thigh and compare which is better. Nurse will just be coming tomorrow, then doing it solo.
I've had no inflammation around injection site, i had thought i might get it as its a side effect. So far so good.
Good luck and you will be fine.

Hi
I've been injecting since April. For the first 12 wks I got infection site reaction. It gradually got less & less and now I have no reaction. I do mine on Thursday morning as I'm of work. I do get an " enbrel" head ache within half an hour of taking it so, I take cocods straight after my injection. Because off the high percentage of us that do get site reaction, it's important to rotate the injection. Also it does sting, but I found the best place is on my stomach (less stinging due to fat), although I do rotate to include thighs. It's not a bad sting - more like a scratch and I've timed it; on me the scratch lasts 7 seconds.
I'm having good results as my das score is now 1.24 (since July), I did notice a difference after 2 wks and it continued to improve each week after that. I'm quite well now
Good luck and I hope it works well for you also
