Morning all I hope you are all pain free today. So after my 1st experience I nervously took 2nd dose after my dinner at 7. By 10:30 I felt a little strange but nothing I could describe so went to bed. I women up at 3 with awful pains in stomach and feeling.after going backwardsand forwards to the bathroom I settled back into bed with a bucket. Then I started to feel strange again. Can't describe it but it was quiet frightening. By 5 I had managed to fall asleep. Woke up 30 mins ago and all side effects have gone. So I'm going to take the prescribed dosage today of one in morning and o e in the evening and see wot happens. Oh and not have any wine with my Sunday roast.
2nd dose of hydroxy.: Morning all I hope you are all... - NRAS
2nd dose of hydroxy.
I've been on hydroxy now for 10 months, never really had any problems apart from a slight rash after a few weeks which only lasted a day,I do find my skin is more sensitive to the sun also I can't drink to much of my beloved red wine,it seems to go straight to my head. But the benefits by far out weight the bad stuff. Hope you get on ok. x
Good idea going off the wine for a while - at least until you get used to the meds at the full dose. I always find that when I'm changing meds I can't take any alcohol, but then once I've stablised I will very gingerly start having a small glass of alcohol, and then just playing it by ear to see how much I can tolerate again. I'm really a "one-drink" person anyway, so its not big deal for me to not drink anything for a while.
Started my 1st dose of Hydroxy last night (fingers crossed) all seems perfectly fine. At the same time started very strict diet (so no wine) Off to France beginning of Aug with hubby & 2 of my eldest grandchildren,so hope when blood tests come back next week nothing gets worse.
Those were the days......wine & sunday roast (yummy) Do hope it settles down for you,cos I'm keeping a close eye on you (ur a day infront) good look Anne xx
Hi Anne, as each day goes things seem to be improving. I'm glad to hear your not having side effects. We went to France in May, weather wasn't great but we loved it. I hope bloods come back ok. Consultant was vague about my last ones when I spoke to her on the phone just said they were ok. So Hopi g this works for both of us and it's good to have someone going through it at the same time. The support on here is fantastic. Have a good day. Andrea xx
I have been on hydroxy for 4 months now and it has made me more sensitive to the sun. I look like a tomato. Also it has irritated my IBS which is driving me nuts. I am back at rheumy tomorrow and hopefully get sorted as I have been took off MTX. Hope it gets better for you x
Thank you Sue. I have noticed my stomach is more sensitive as I'm wheat intolerant which I think gives me ibs. Good luck with rheumy tomoz. Let us know how you get on. Think at the moment it's the hot flushes that I'm finding the most embarrassing when out and about. Andrea xx
do you think they are cos of the hydroxy? or age? just asking as I will be 50 in less than 6 weeks but my periods have stopped the last 6 months. Now it could be the menopause as I only have one oviery so was told it would be earlier than normal. If it is the meds I dunno which one as also on pred.
Hi Andrea. I was prescribed Clonidine Hydrocchloride 25mg (little miracle tablets)I was really bad with (my tropical moments) ha ha at the time 10yrs ago was 47. Always have them in my bag just incase, dont really need them these days My 1st year was the worst then got easier(for me anyway)
speak soon Anne xx
Hi Anne, I have hormone coil that should stop symptoms of that but I'm 43 so hopefully it's just the meds and will settle. How you feeling today. Andrea xx
Hi Andrea, don't feel any differant, hope it stays that way.Should get more results back soon, then things might change, waiting for CCP bloods(which apparently is the one to determine RA)report on hands & feet X-rays also next monday bone density test ,should all be sorted soon.
keeping a close eye on you :))
Anne xx
Hi Sue,hope it doesnt make me more sensitive to the sun,I am a sun god & going to France in Aug .Did u say u were having hot sweats as I went on change 10yrs ago when I was 47.Had very bad time at first with(my tropical moments)ha ha....was prescribed Clonidine Hydrochloride 25mg.Needed them constantly at first, then it did calm down(for me anyway)worth asking about.
good luck
Anne xx
I have more hot flushes than sweats but not to often. My monthlys went a bit funny to start with as in very irregular and scanty then to just a spot here and there now nothing at all for past 4 months. Don't get me wrong it suits me fine it's just not knowing if they are going to return as I swap and change meds. GP said no use in doing a blood test for menopause as the amount of meds I am on will give it a false answer.
