Even more upset after today

Well one more nail in the coffin of the incompetent people who are supposedly looking after me. I have lost all faith in the them after today's conversation in which I rang to say my GP has told me it looks like I have AI hepatitis and has the rheumy booked me in for a liver biopsy as promised months and months ago. Conversations started with vague allusions to oh yeah we thought you probably have that has your GP referred you for one? No I say you told me you were going to months and months ago. Oh well I will check that then and hung up! And people are telling me to hang in there and have faith and they will start to treat me when they have all the test results, seriously I think I am in big trouble and these supposed doctors are negligent. I cannot believe that they just don't care what am I supposed to do? My GP is not on until Sunday so I can't even get advice from him. So over this and am now giving up.

I am so sorry about this latest turn of events. I really feel for you.

Trying to think of something practical - I wonder if you hospital has a PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service). Most hospitals do these days and they are an advice service, run independently of the hospital, who you can talk to about difficulties with the hospital and they can potentially help you sort them out. I found the PALS at my hospital were brilliant when I had a problem and, because they can talk directly to the people involved directly in a way which perhaps we, as patients can't, they can be very good at helping get things moved forward more quickly. You can find out about your hospital and PALS either by ringing the main hospital switchboard and asking if there is a PALS service or by checking your hospitals website for the contact details (which is what I did). Just a thought.

Thinking of you.

ye agree with Tillytop ,

this is not good treatment. If they dont help write directly to the chief executive of your hospital who has to reply i think in 7 days. if you look on the NHS website it tells you how to complain, I wouldn't waste any more of your valuable time or health , get writing!!!

Shame its a friday as it always slows things down . Always take the name of the person and department you are dealing with and also write down the date and time, it will help you with future calls and correspondence and it is a crying shame you have to do that these days. hugs Axx

I think you will find that Someone'smother lives in Australia where there may well be no PALS? It does sound really bad though - I hate the feeling of being in the hands of incompetents. Hope things gets sorted out soon for you. X

My only option is to try and see one privately and that will take another year to get in to as they are the same ones that are at the hospital bar 1 and he is booked out for a year which will also mean I have to go through all the same testing again as the hospital will not release my records to a private doc. It will also cost me thousands of dollars to pay for the tests again which I don't have. I figure I am screwed!

Not sure which state you are in someonesmother, but there will be a complaints or advocacy service you can use - I know south australia has just got a new health and community services complaints commissioner (HCSCC), so I'd suggest trying to find out what the comparable organisation is where you are and get onto them quickly to make a formal complain, but also to get someone to advocate for you to get the treatment you need.

Thanks earthwitch problem is if I complain then my only option will be to drive 3 1/2 hours to another state to get treatment and I just don't feel well enough to do that. If you complain they punish you, childish I know but it is how they work, ego driven..

I think you should write a polite but stern letter of complaint detailing when and how they have failed you and ask that you be fast tracked for all tests and treatment. Send copies to all involved with your care and anyone else that needs to know or might represent you. Hugs and hang in there.

Hi Angel

I'm so sorry your being treated like this, all the medical profession should have to go through every test possible, so they know how it feels! They might be another more caring.

I'm sorry I can't give you any advice to help, but I would like to try and make you feel better.

I am a big believer in angels and I have asked them to watch over you and guide you through this horrible time and I am giving you my special poem that I give to people who are in need of some comfort and support.

When angels sense you need them

And angels always do

They come unseen from everywhere

To help and comfort you

They hover close beside you

Till all your cares are gone

Till they can see you're ready

Once again to carry on

Then some of them fly away

And take their gentle touch

To other hearts that need the love

Of angels very much

But one at least stays with you

As your constant friend and guide

For guardian angels never leave you

They are always by your side

I hope it helps, take care and angel blessings to you
