Sorry to hear you are in pain. I suffer from painful wrists, and it affects my daily living, trying to cook or work. i know this sounds daft but i find cooling my wrists really helps. i use wine bottle coolers. (these are the cheap cylindrical ones that you put in the fridge then put the bottle in), i can "wear" them on my wrists for half an hour and it really does ease the pain. i put them back in the fridge ready for next time i need them. (i keep them in a food bag). have you spoken to your rheumy Nurse for suggestions? I do hope you find a solution. take care

Chemar, hello, I do sympathise with you about your wrists. I am left handed (we are a very select group!!!!), and I lost the use of my left hand first. It took me a while but I got used to using my right hand in no time, necessity being the mother of invention as they say.

Anyhow I have been on Tocilizamub since November and while in it I have lost the use of my right hand too. Your right it's the wrists that make it so painful. I find pain in my hand is a quick shock whereas the wrist is a gnawing, constant pain that never seems to go away.

That was a good idea about the wine cooler, must give that a go. I have the splints too for my wrists and although they can be cumbersome they do help if your doing a lot about the house. I also use them for driving and the metal part helps for shifting gears!!! I have two painter coming tomorrow morning so I have a lot of shifting and moving of things to do.

I hasten to add that I am coming off Tocilizamub in June and going on Abatacept. I have asked on here before if anyone knows anything about this drug as I have never heard of it and never heard it mentioned on this site???!!!!???

As for the swelling, warmth etc etc, everyone is different and it means nothing if you don't have these signs, you have the pain and that is the main thing. I have these signs sometimes and sometimes none of them so don't worry about that.

All the best anyhow darlin and keep in touch. Jean
