Today marks the end of being two months cold turkey and I'm still really struggling.
I've been lurking around this site ever since I quit and I'm beginning to become concerned about my symptoms. I've never been a "heavy" smoker, I smoked for around 3 years on about 10 a-day (+/-) and I quit after becoming ill around 9 weeks ago (man flu) and couldn't bring myself to look at a cigarette for days, so I jumped at the chance and went cold turkey.
I've had all the usually symptoms people are discussing on the site i.e. cravings, mind fog, fatigue etc.. over the first two weeks, but it been two months now and I'm getting unusual symptoms which won't disappear such as:
Sweating-I'll break out in a sweats, especially at night.
Fatigue- getting better but not sure if I've just adapted to having lower energy levels.
running nose- I have to blow my nose multiple times every morning.
skin- spider veins have appeared on my chest
dehydration - drinking a lot more than usual
Is anyone else struggling as much as me going into the 3 month mark? these coupled with the continuing aches, pains, sleep troubles and typical ongoing symptoms are driving me insane so I'm thinking about buying patches and seeing if they can alleviate any of my symptoms.
Any advice would be great,
Regards.

Hi! Sorry to hear about your suffering! None of those really sounds to me as related to a normal quit, not at the stage you are on, certainly. I am not a GP obviously but I would tempted to send you to one whenever you get a chance, maybe get him to run some bloods and get the peace of mid you need at this stage.
Hi David, I think that a lot of these symptoms ARE due to you quitting, the symptoms can go on for a long time i have had most of these at one time or another during previous quits, as Maya said tho we aren't doctors so if something is really concerning you go and see GP, try not to worry tho, this quitting malarkey brings with it looooads of weird symptoms x
I think that quitting really does affect us in so many ways and that it does take the body and mind time to adjust. Firstly we've got to struggle through the first few weeks feeling bereft because of the loss of the companion (smoking) that we think has kept us sane for so long. For some of us (especially me) it takes a lot of determination and it can be both tiring and draining, probably because we're concentrating too much on it. When we were smoking we never thought about it but quitting for most of us is a big mental challenge.
I think your symptoms are probably just the result of you coming to terms with your quit. You've done really well to get so far and it shows you mean business. I personally wouldn't subscribe to any kind of nicotine replacement now that your system is free of it. I think these problems will soon settle down.
I also think smoking masks a lot of things for us such as stressful situations etc and when we give it up we feel very vulnerable..
See how you go but if these symptoms don't disappear soon then go to your GP for advice and peace of mind.
Keep yourself busy and remember how well you've done to have been smoke free for two months. I honestly think that all smokers secretly wish they could do the same but they're just frightened to take the first step to freedom by quitting.
I'm 2 months in have mucus/sinus nose blowing thing & dehydration going on .... but I was smoking 26 years ... so I'd say give it 3 months, I'm on gum, which as of last week now tastes of mint
before that cardboard lol .... I think its time, but checking in with your doc and having a talk cant be bad
