I don't really post on this forum anymore since I am now enjoying the benefits of a smoke-free life. That said, I still haven't forgotten about how useful this forum was in helping me kick the habit, and that is why I have returned to say that as of 8th July I have been smoke free for 2 whole years.
Looking back the time has absolutely flown by and it's hard to remember what my life was like as a smoker. Even my friends and family members have commented on how they cannot remember me smoking and it's as though I never did. This makes me feel as though the slate has been wiped clean which is the perfect closure for me, as I am a completely different person now.
For anyone who is considering quitting or has recently quit, and feels that 2 years is a million miles away: trust me, it isn’t. Take each day, hour or craving one stage at a time and before you know it a week will become a month, and a month will become several months, etc. This philosophy, this forum, reading “Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Smoking” and going cold turkey were the things that worked for me.
All the best and keep on trying
