Hi All,

I quit smoking on Dec 20th last year. I listened to Allen's Carr easyway to quit smoking in preparation for the weekend away with my boyfriend family where i couldn't smoke, my goal was to make it through the weekend and now I'm nearing 50 days smoke free.

I have been reading these forums almost everyday to help myself along, its nice to know im not the only one doing this!! all my friends STINK literally lol

Welcome Smokefree! :D

Congratulations on your quit- you've done brilliantly well to get so far. You're obviously determined, focused and well informed.

Glad you've ceased lurking and joined in. I shall look forward to hearing how it is going for you. :)

thanks guys!

it is better to post then just to read!

I have lots of tips as this is my final quit after many pre quits.

you cant doubt your decision, i know i wont smoke again however i still wrestle with my brain from time to time with the thought of it. I just think of it as "hey i want a cigarette" isn't that annoying, that must be how serious my addiction was. I've gained a few pounds but every chocolate bar i ate was worth it cause it wasn't a cigarette i was having, i will also use the christmas break as a excuse lol This week I am overcoming my chocolate cravings because the whole point of this quitting was to be healthy and in previous quits i went back to smoking just to keep my weight down, back to the gym for this girl

I also haven't changed anything about my life to help my quit be easier, if all my friends are going out to have drinks then hell yeah i am going out to have drinks, the best thing is i don't feel half as bad in the mornings and i don't have to stand in the cold!

Woo hoo 50 days is amazing especially as you only wanted to get through one weekend! Sounds like you have this sorted, so glad you have posted it will give inspiration to others on here, did you use any NRT or did you only use the Allen Carr book? Keep up the good work xx

yeah! i just used the allen carr book, which i have read a few times. this quit though i only had a day to get ready for it and not enough time to read the full book again so i downloaded the allen carr iphone app and listened to it for 90 minutes then before i knew it i was outside smoking my last cigarette...i have never quit with a full pack of smokes before! i am thinking now when i look back on my previous quits that it was not believing in myself that caused relapse. I believe now!

I also curbed my chocolate cravings pretty well this last week and got my butt to the gym, i feel so much better when i'm working out as a non smoker!

had a great celebration on Friday night for my 50 days!! i love how Allan's book didn't have me avoid anything i enjoy to stop. i drink, i eat, i hang out with smokers and i don't get bothered!

i'm proud of myself and so are all my smoking friends, most of them are reading now! :)

congrats to everyone else, if you haven't read the book. i really do highly recommend it, fantastic!

Brilliant stuff! You sound totally positive and happy which is ace! I'm liking the idea of celebrating 50 days, my husband and I both quit on the same day so reckon a fancy dinner might be on the cards in 10 days :) keep it up and keep us posted on your progress I'm loving the positivity it rubs off on me :)
