Hey peeps, just joined forum as wanted some advice from people going through the same situation. I decided to go cold turkey with no medicines or aids but as week 2 approaches on Tuesday I'm having serious second thoughts??

I find when things get tough reading through the above forum really helps, esp for cold turkey quitters.

Hang in there your doing better than you give yourself credit for.....remember your reasons for stopping, write them down if it helps and keep posting, everyone is so good here for keeping you motivated....you can do it!:)

Hi Rochey, glad you've joined.

Lots of supportive peeps here to help you through this.

Also as you read the posts, you will see everyone has their own method.

I do have Nicotin 1.5 lozenges, but have so far only had 6 in just over 3 weeks because patches etc would be difficult for me.

Difficult to advise someone else, but seems from what I read it isn't going to be an easy ride whichever way you go ;)

BUT it is possible, you CAN do it, just read what people here have achieved, flipping fantastic !!!! One day at a time Rochey. We're all here to help you through. xxx

Rochey, you've broken the back of it now and it will start to get easier- promise! :) You should be patting yourself on the back for what you have achieved.

Weekends can be a difficult time especially at the beginning. My advice is come on here and join in. It's a great way of distracting yourself and you'll meet lots of lovely people in the process. :D

Hey Rochey :D

I have nothing but huge admiration for those who quit Bernard Matthews style.

I am far too weak to even contemplate such a thing

You are doing amazingly well. Congratulations!

It may be worth having a chat with a stop smoking adviser if you start getting serious wobbles.

Best of luck!!

Hey rochey

With regards to the cold turkey I have tried it, it wasn't for me and it's not for everyone... If you really feel the cravings are getting bad then I would say get some NRT it's by far the best option when you look at the alternative, what I wouldn't want you to do is hang it out CT till u really can't cope with it (like I did) and then end up smoking... Of course you might not do that, this might be just a bad day for you but if after a day or 2 you are really finding it hard to cope perhaps do a low strength patch programme or get some gum or lozenges etc....the only reason I say this is because I thought it would get easier and that I was over the worst but I wasn't... shock to the system CT doesn't always work for everyone, perhaps like lots of us on here you need a gradual nicotine withdrawal....just remember there are options and u haven't failed by any stretch of the imagination of u get NRT, good luck x

Damnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!

Hey peeps,

I went straight down gym after work to run off the little demon craving creeping back in!! Stopped off for petrol on way back and very nearly bought some cigs!! ****** habit!! On the plus side of things I've managed to secure a bulk buy of Wrigleys chewing gum going out of date in April. I'm sure I will get through that by expiry date! 'He says chewing half a packet. Ha ha!! :) X

Roche,

I am on day 20 today and let me hit you with a torpedo of truth. IT IS POSSIBLE to do this cold turkey! You have done so well already, you have fought craving after craving already.

The only reason why you are having doubts now is because it wants back inside of you, don't give it the pleasure. You have got this underneath control. Beat one craving at a time, it DOES get better. From one Cold Turker person to the next.

You are ROCKING this.
